Product catalog summary
Position-Sensitive Detectors (PSDs)
  • Specifications: The Models 293X PSDs offer exceptional position resolution (<0.25 µm) and accuracy (<±15 µm). They provide both analog and 16-bit digital outputs via USB 2.0, with adjustable gain settings and switchable output normalization.
  • Features: These detectors are suitable for beam position, pointing, and power measurements. They are available in three versions with different photodetector sizes (4×4 mm to 13×13 mm) to accommodate varying beam sizes or deviations.
  • Outputs: Digital outputs use a USB 2.0 interface, while analog outputs can be switched between raw and normalized signals. A background subtraction function is included for precision.
  • Power Supply: The PSDs can be powered via USB or an external DC power supply, with a recommendation for the Model 0901 power supply.
Comparison with Quadrant-Cell Photoreceivers:
  • Quadrant-cells are ideal for centering applications, offering high sensitivity near the center but losing accuracy off-center. They are best for beam stabilization to a fixed target.
  • PSDs, lacking a mechanically-defined center, provide uniform accuracy across the detector area, making them suitable for applications involving varying beam positions or angles.
Quadrant-Cell Photoreceivers:
  • Specifications: Models 290X and 2911 are designed for beam-stabilization applications, with adjustable gain settings for optical powers from 1 µW to 100 mW.
  • Features: These photoreceivers consist of four identical photocells, each with its own amplifier, to generate difference signals for beam position measurement.
  • Outputs: Provide X, Y, and SUM signals, with a typical 3-dB bandwidth of 100 kHz.
  • Power Supply: Can be powered by batteries or a DC power supply, with a recommendation for the Model 0901 power supply.
Applications:
  • PSDs and quadrant-cell photoreceivers are used in shared-beam experiments, beam stabilization, semiconductor equipment, defense, aerospace, and life sciences.

Beam-Position Photoreceivers-1

4mmto 13 ח 13 mm. These new Models 293X position-sensitivedetectors (PSDs) deliver exceptional perfor- mance with a range of convenient features. With <0.25-m resolution, <ձ15-m accuracy, and 16-bit digital output resolution, thesedetectors are ideal for beam position, pointing and power measurements. Unlike our quad- rant-cell photoreceivers, which are ideal for centering applications, these PSDs are well- suited for applications requiring varying beam positions or angles. (See the inset ՓPSDs vs. Quadrant-Cell Photoreceivers for more infor- mation.) Three versions with different photode- tector sizes are available for varying beam sizes or beam position deviations from 4 These easy-to-use PSDs include both digitaland analog outputs. The digital outputs use a USB 2.0 interface for easy interfacing with your computer. The analog outputs can bemanually switched between raw X, Y and SUM(i.e. power) or normalized X/SUM, Y/SUM and SUM. To further improve precision, the normal- ized output features a background (ambient light) subtraction function. These PSDs also include adjustable gain settings for use with a wide variety of optical powers. > Models 293X
