Product catalog summary
Technical Specifications:
The Small Expansion Joint Type Za is designed for axial movements in heating and industrial water systems. It accommodates diameters from ½" to 2" with pressure ratings of PN 16 for sizes ½" to 1¼" and PN 10 for sizes 1½" to 2". It endures 5000 full load cycles at a 25 mm stroke and 1000 cycles at a 45 mm stroke, with temperature resistance up to 450°C. The joint is constructed with stainless steel bellows and carbon steel weld ends, featuring a reinforced inner sleeve and a robust outer sleeve for protection.
Materials:
- Bellows: Stainless steel 1.4571 (AISI 316 Ti equivalent)
- Connecting weld ends: Carbon steel St 52-3
- Inner sleeve: Carbon steel St 35
- Outer sleeve: EN AW-6063 T6
Installation Instructions:
1. Ensure piping is anchored by two points to withstand the expansion joint's reaction force.
2. The joint compensates only for axial movements; pipe guides should be fixed at 0.50 m intervals.
3. Remove the pretension ring only before pressure testing.
4. Follow the marked arrow for correct flow direction during installation.
5. Protect the joint from excessive heat and welding splatters during installation.
6. Avoid torsion during installation and operation.
7. For inquiries, contact BOA AG or a local representative.
Additional Notes:
- The joint is supplied in a pretensioned state; ensure the outer sleeve presses against the pretension ring.
- Anchor points and pipe guides must be correctly positioned to prevent exceeding movement capacity.

Small Expansion Joint Type Za Technical Data // Installation Instructions Technical Data Small Expansion Joint Type Za for welding in into steel pipe Construction characteristics Execution with weld ends, delivered in pretensioned condition. The main element of this small expansion joint is the multi-ply bellows made of stainless steel. The two weld ends for welding in are made of carbon steel St 52-3. The inner protecting sleeve is reinforced and hence also acting as a guide. The outer robust sleeve protects the expansion joint from mechanical and environmental influences. All connections are welded. Application field: for taking up axial movements in heating and industry water systems. Diameter: ½" – 2" For larger dimensions, axial expansion joints of type W are used Pressure: Size ½" – 1 ¼" PN 16 Size 1 ½" – 2" PN 10 For higher pressures, axial expansion joints of type W are used Materials: Bellows element: stainless steel 1.4571 (similar to AISI 316 Ti) Connecting weld ends: carbon steel St 52-3 Inner protecting sleeve: carbon steel St 35 Outer protecting sleeve: EN AW-6063 T6 Endurance: 5000 full load cycles at 25 mm stroke (1000 full load cycles at 45 mm stroke) Temperature resistance: up to 450°C 12-02 F-0001014 TL BOA AG Station-Ost 1 · CH-6023 Rothenburg · Switzerland Phone: +41 41 289 41 11 · Fax: +41 41 289 42 02 · [email protected] · www.boa.ch ./.
