1500 SERIES LARGE CAPACITY ULTRA2 LOW NOX TM BURNER

Product catalog summary
Capabilities: The 1500 Series Ultra2 Low NOx burner is designed for high release rates with moderate air pressure, offering good turndown while maintaining flame characteristics and direction. It supports multiple fuel types, including most gases and many oils, and is optimized for low NOx emissions.
Features: The burner features a rugged fabricated construction and an Ultra2 Low NOx refractory baffle that stabilizes the flame. It is suitable for furnace temperatures up to 2600°F (1427°C) and air temperatures up to 1200°F (649°C). It supports dual fuel operation.
Control and Monitoring: Volumetric Fuel/Air Ratio Control is recommended, and a U.V. Detector is suggested for flame monitoring. Ignition can be achieved via pilot or direct spark.
Applications: The burner is suitable for various applications, including slab reheating furnaces, aluminum melting and holding furnaces, ladle dryers, billet reheating furnaces, ingot heaters, air heaters, hot metal mixers, boilers, and copper melting and holding furnaces.
Design and Operation: The burner is designed to operate with both hot and cold air, reducing NOx emissions through optimized air and fuel velocities. It uses a recirculation and air staging approach to control the chemical environment in the flame, reducing peak flame temperatures and suppressing NOx formation.
Specifications: The burner is suitable for operation with a heating value of approximately 500 Btu per cubic foot (4700 Kcal/m3) or greater. It requires 5 psi (345 mbar) gas pressure for the burner and separate gas lance, with lance gas required at approximately 5% nominal gas flow.
Options: Available options include clean-out doors or couplings, angled air riser, lance for turndown, and angled mounting flange.
Dimensions and Weights: The document provides detailed dimensions for both hot and cold air configurations, along with approximate burner weights for various catalog numbers.
Safety Caution: Users are cautioned that improper use of combustion equipment can be hazardous and are urged to comply with National Safety Standards and Insurance Underwriters recommendations.

The large capacity burner has been specifically designed to reduce NOx emissions. Air and fuel velocities through the baffle have been optimized to create a jet effect at the baffle face that induces furnace gases into the combustion process. By combining the recirculation and air staging approach, the chemical environment in the flame is controlled to reduce peak flame temperatures. This suppresses NOx formation while maintaining excellent mixing characteristics resulting in exceptionally low carbon monoxide levels and uniform heat release patterns. CAUTION: The improper use of combustion equipment can result in a condition hazardous to people and property.
