VDL Belgium became a member of VDL Group in 1986. At that time it was known as AED Denies and was an automotive seat supplier to Volvo and Peugeot. In 1988 they moved to Aalst near Brussels and over here we met the Managing Director Mr. Marco Van Tongeren, his future successor Mr. Danny Dee Rouck and the Technical Director Mr. Salvatore Abraini. Van Tongeren told us about the fire accident in 2000 that almost destroyed the factory and how at one point of time the company was thinking of abandoning the whole activity rather than restarting from zero. Fortunately they decided to restart and specialize...

COST SAVINGS “Our production process has changed with LT-FREE and it is more efficient. In some cases we were able to save up to 50% on costs compared to the past.“ Everyone in VDL appreciates LT-FREE’s capability of cutting almost any type of component and the flexibility it offers. “LT-FREE has drastically reduced our set-up time and this is a very strong point for LT-FREE, even compared with other similar systems on the market”. They show us another component which earlier required seven different manufacturing steps; now those are reduced to three: cut to length, bend and cutting on LT-FREE...

BREAKING YOUR OWN RECORDS - DAY AFTER DAY NATHOR INDÚSTRIA DE BICICLETAS Specialized in the production of tricycles and bicycles for children of the age group from eighteen months to eight years, Nathor Industria de Bicicletas had The company was established in 1985 by Vergos himself. “After finishing university at the age of 23, I won a scholarship to go to Japan where I learnt about a special type of plastic. On return, I started a company in São Paulo to manufacture and sell plastic automotive components”. As a result of the recession, in 1989 Vargos decided to change sector and started focusing...

BLM AS PARTNER Mr. Vargos told us about his experience with BLM GROUP: “A representative first mentioned the Lasertube systems to me twelve years ago. At that time, we were too small for such an investment, but when we started growing we purchased the first machine (it was an LT5) and then a second, followed by a SMART tube bender and a TC720 sawing machine. And I do not think we have finished yet!” Antonio Nicolas Vargos probably is unaware that cutting tubes for bicycles was the first application for the Lasertube systems when ADIGE invented them and confirms once again that this area of application...

THE FIRST LASERTUBE SYSTEM IN FRANCE Many of the products such as chairs, beds and lifting equipment contain tubular elements that have holes and end cuts, have to be bent and then must be assembled and welded together to form frames or sub-systems used in lifting equipment. It is not a coincidence that Dupont Medical has a long-lasting and consolidated relationship with BLM GROUP companies. In 1998, an NC842 an automatic tube bending machine and a Lasertube LT651 was purchased from BLM Group. The Lasertube LT651 was to replace an old sawing machine which had also been supplied by ADIGE. This...
