Sized cullet often has a high proportion of labels and coating residues from paper, plastics or various laminates which considerably hamper the clear-cut sizing of glass quality by means of optical separators. Oversorting, also known as glass loss, is the logical consequence. Based on many years of experience in the wet processing of bulk materials, Binder+Co AG has managed to further develop a log washer for the efficient removal of labels on waste cullet. The attrition of the label materials is achieved by high-wear-resistant paddles which initiate a compressed rubbing action between the cullet pieces. Due to drive-speed regulation, adjustable conveying slope, and construction length of the box, the duration of operation and thus the abrasion itself can be optimised. And it goes without saying that the feed material is treated with the highest care. In general, the specific construction length is adapted to the required throughput capacity.
