Shrink Chucks

Product catalog summary
Introduction
This document provides an overview of ThermoGrip® Shrink Chucks, detailing their advantages, specifications, and applications. It emphasizes the importance of selecting optimal clamping tools to enhance cutting edge performance and tool life.
Shrink Chucks Overview
Various types of shrink chucks are listed, including HSK, CAT, and PSC models, with references for detailed specifications. It covers standard, slim, and heavy-duty versions, each designed for different applications and tool sizes.
Advantages and Properties
ThermoGrip® Shrink Chucks are made from high heat-resisting special steel, offering high radial rigidity, low deflection, and high infeed rates. They are balanced by design for better surface quality and reduced machine spindle wear. The patented counterbore allows for tool insertion under cold conditions and requires less heat for the shrinking process.
Technical Specifications
The chucks offer high concentricity (<0.003 mm) and precise taper tolerances, reducing tool costs and chatter marks. They can clamp all cylindrical shanks according to DIN standards without losing clamping force on greasy or oily shanks.
Slim Shrink Chucks (TSF)
Developed for the mold and die industry, these chucks feature a slim design to eliminate interference edges. They have a non-corroding coating and are fine balanced. Parameters for shrinking time and generator output are pre-programmed in new ThermoGrip® units.
Heavy Duty Shrink Chucks (THD)
These chucks offer high radial rigidity and are suitable for high-performance cutting. They require specific units and coils for operation and are designed to prevent vibrations even at high speeds.
Cool Jet Technology
ThermoGrip® Cool Jet provides flexible coolant and lubricant supply through closable channels, optimizing cooling and chip removal. It is suitable for all tool types and applications, enhancing tool life and surface quality.
Corona Jet 2.0
This innovative coolant feed system features a jet ring with integrated jets at varying angles, directed at the cutting edge and chip flute, suitable for tools without coolant channels and various material processing applications.
Key Features
  • Optimal Coolant and Lubricant Delivery: The ThermoGrip® Corona Jet 2.0 ensures direct coolant and lubricant feed to the cutting edge, enhancing tool performance and efficiency.
  • Improved Surface Quality: The system facilitates optimal chip removal, preventing second cutting of chips and improving surface finish.
  • Extended Tool Life: By maintaining constant tool cutting temperatures, the system prolongs tool life and reduces breakage.
  • Complete Coolant Coverage: The special angled design of the jets ensures comprehensive coolant spraying, enhancing chip evacuation and reducing tool wear.
  • Usability: The system is user-friendly for shrinking and insertion processes and is available for standard shrink chuck shanks with diameters ranging from 6 mm to 20 mm.
Technical Specifications
  • Concentricity: The ThermoGrip® shrink chucks offer a concentricity of ≤ 3µm.
  • Balancing: Chucks are finely balanced at G2.5 at 25,000 rpm, suitable for chucks with mass ≥ 1 kg or with residual imbalance < 1 g mm.
  • RPM Limits: Maximum allowable RPM varies across different models, with specifications provided for each.
  • Shank Tolerances: Specified as Ø 3,4 = h4, Ø 5 = h5, Ø ≥ 6 = h6.
Product Variants
  • Cool Jet Execution: Offers optional external cooling with closable cooling channel holes.
  • Corona Jet 2.0 System: Includes nozzle rings and can be optionally reworked on request.
Accessories
The document lists various accessories such as nozzle rings, ring assembly drivers, and torque wrenches, with specific identification numbers for each.
Applications
The system is particularly suitable for deep cavities, mold, and die industries, offering vibration damping and corrosion protection.
Specifications
The document lists multiple models of shrink chucks, each with specific dimensions and characteristics. Key parameters include diameter (D1, D2, D3), length (A, L1, L3), and thread size (M5, M6, etc.). The chucks are designed for high precision with a maximum runout of ≤ 3µm and are suitable for high-speed machining up to 25,000 RPM.
Procedures
The document mentions the use of ThermoGrip® technology for shrink fitting, which involves heating the chuck to expand it and then inserting the tool. This process ensures a secure fit and high radial rigidity.
Standards and Norms
The chucks conform to DIN 69893 standards, ensuring compatibility and reliability in industrial applications. Balancing information is provided to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the tool and machine spindle.
Recommendations
For optimal performance, it is recommended to use the chucks with fine balancing screws for precise adjustments. The document also suggests using high-temperature resistant special steel for maximum form stability and life.
Additional Information
The document includes a note on the upcoming Bilz Shop, which will provide further resources and purchasing options for these products.
Specifications and Components
The document details various components and specifications related to the ISG 3400 series, including exchangeable discs for shrink fit chucks with short A-dimensions. It ensures that the coil does not rest on the collar of the HSK, preventing damage during heating. Specific clamping diameters and identification numbers are provided for different components.
Product Range and Updates
The document outlines the continuous updating of the product range, emphasizing the addition of new and improved products. It mentions that in some cases, ordered products may no longer be in stock, and customers will receive a technically improved or equivalent alternative. The company ensures that customers receive the most updated tools.
Ordering Information
Prices are not included in the catalog and should be referred to in the current price list. A minimum order value is set, with an additional handling fee for orders below EUR 50.00. Special designs or tools made according to drawings are available upon request.
Legal and Contact Information
The document includes legal disclaimers about reprinting and errors. It provides contact information for BILZ Werkzeugfabrik GmbH & Co. KG, including their address, phone number, fax, and email.
