Product catalog summary
Overview: The Junior LB 9509 is a portable tube luminometer designed for applications involving glow-type bioluminescent and chemiluminescent reagents. Its compact size, lightweight, and battery operation make it versatile for use in laboratories, on-site, or outdoors. It is applicable in fields such as biomedical research, clinical diagnostics, hygiene monitoring, biotechnology process control, and environmental monitoring.
Sensitivity: The device features a state-of-the-art single photon counting photomultiplier with low noise. A high sensitivity model is available, reducing the detection limit to less than 50 amol ATP.
Dynamic Range: The luminometer offers a wide dynamic range, allowing measurement of both low and high signals without changing settings, thanks to BERTHOLD TECHNOLOGIES' single photon counting electronics.
Independence: The Junior operates independently from a mains supply for extended periods due to rechargeable batteries. It can also be connected to a mains supply for automatic recharging.
Versatility: The measuring chamber accommodates various sample tubes and sizes, including traditional lumi vials, microcentrifuge tubes, and capped vials.
Ease of Use: Operated via a membrane keypad, the software displays protocol, sample location, and RLU value. LEDs indicate if a sample is above, below, or within set limits.
Data Management: Stores up to 2,000 measurement results, searchable by time and location. Results can be downloaded to a PC using WinTerm software, which organizes data into Excel spreadsheets.
Portability: Weighing only 2 kg, the Junior is easily transportable, with a metal case available for outdoor use.
Reliability: The selection of detectors ensures minimal day-to-day variation, providing reliable measurements.
Applications: The Junior is suitable for reporter gene assays, ATP determination, hygiene monitoring, water sample toxicity testing, enzyme activity assays, DNA probe assays, Mycoplasma detection, and luminescent immunoassays.
Technical Specifications: The device operates within a spectral range of 380-630 nm, with a dynamic range of 6 orders of magnitude. It supports various tube formats and features an illuminated graphic display. The power supply is 110-230 V, and it operates within a temperature range of 15-35°C.
Order Information: The Junior LB 9509 is available in high sensitivity and standard models, with various accessories such as lumivials, adapters, rechargeable batteries, and a transport case.

The unique design of the measuring chamber allows the use of a variety of different sample tubes and sizes. Besides the traditional lumi vials, microcentrifuge tubes (Eppendorf cups) and capped 4 mL vials can be used. The Junior can be operated independently from a mains supply for many hours as it is equipped with rechargable batteries. In the lab the instrument can be connceted to a mains supply thereby automatically recharging the batteries.

Applications Reporter Gene Assays In basic research of gene regulation as well as in drug discovery and recently even in clinical diagnostics luciferases, ß-glucuronidases, ß-galactosidases and secreted alkaline phosphatases have become standard tools offering high sensitivity and wide dynamic range. Dual reporter type assays, e.g. DualGlo™ reporter gene assay, are popular as they provide an internal control for transfection efficiency or general expression level and cell viability. Chemistries with a stable light emission can be measured with the Junior by adding the reagents manually. Toxicity...
