Product catalog summary
Overview: The BERMAD 800 Series Model 820-PP is a high-pressure, proportional pressure reducing valve designed to reduce upstream pressure to a lower downstream pressure at a fixed ratio. It is hydraulically operated and piston actuated, suitable for long downhill lines and high differential pressure systems.
Features and Benefits:
  • Robust structure with piston actuation for high-pressure service.
  • Line pressure driven for independent operation.
  • Cost-effective and simple maintenance with minimal external accessories.
  • Built-in check feature eliminates the need for a line-sized check valve.
  • In-line serviceable for easy maintenance.
  • Double chamber design moderates valve reaction.
  • Flexible design allows easy addition of features.
  • Semi-straight flow ensures non-turbulent flow.
  • Stainless steel raised seat resists cavitation damage.
  • V-Port throttling plug provides low flow stability.
Major Additional Features:
  • Solenoid control (820-PP-55).
  • Closing & opening speed control (820-PP-03).
  • Emergency pressure reducing valve (820-PP-59).
  • Pressure sustaining (823-PB).
Operation: The Model 820-PP operates without a pilot, using a double chambered control mechanism. The downstream pressure acts as a closing force, while the upstream pressure acts as an opening force. The valve adjusts to maintain a constant pressure ratio between upstream and downstream pressures.
Pilot System Specifications:
  • Standard materials include Stainless Steel 316 or Copper & Brass for tubing and fittings.
  • Recommended continuous flow velocity: 0.3-6.0 m/sec (1-20 ft/sec).
  • Minimum operating pressure: 2.0 bar (30 psi).
Reduction Ratios: The valve maintains a constant reduction ratio across various sizes, ranging from 2.1 to 2.5 depending on the valve size.
Typical Applications:
  • Long downhill lines to prevent pressure rating exceedance.
  • High differential pressure systems to reduce cavitation damage and noise.
  • Protection of circulation and level control valves from high differential pressure.
Technical Data:
  • Size range: DN40-500 (1.5–20 inches).
  • End connections: Flanged (ISO PN16, PN25, PN40; ANSI Class 150, 300, 400) or Threaded (BSP or NPT).
  • Working temperature: Water up to 80°C (180°F).
  • Standard materials include Cast Carbon Steel, Ductile Iron, Stainless Steel 316, and Bronze.
  • Coating: Fusion Bonded Epoxy, RAL 5005 (Blue) approved for drinking water or Electrostatic Polyester Powder.
Ordering Information: Specify size, main model, additional features, pattern, body material, end connection, coating, voltage & main valve position, tubing & fittings materials, operational data, pressure data, flow data, reservoir level data, and settings using Bermad’s Waterworks Ordering Guide.

800 Series Operation The Model 820-PP is a pilotless, double chambered control valve. The downstream pressure is applied as the closing force on the top side of both the piston and the seal disk areas. The upstream pressure is applied as the opening force on the bottom side of the seal disk area. The net force, resulting from the two opposing dynamic forces acting on the actuator’s piston and seal, determines the degree to which the valve is open. The valve seeks the point where these forces are equal. As the ratio of the areas of the seal disk and the piston is constant, the ratio of the upstream...
