ARC2000

Product catalog summary
1. Use
The ARC2000 is a tension regulator designed by BELTRAME C.S.E. for synchronous machines, such as alternators and synchronous motors. It manages power factor (P.F.) and reactive power (VAR) by controlling the excitation of electric machines. The device is configurable and can operate in parallel with another unit for backup. It interfaces with various regulators and supports digital regulation through the S2010 electronic card.

2. Description
The ARC2000 utilizes a DSP microprocessor for alternator control and can be configured via software or an operator panel. It features removable terminal boards for easy wiring and LED indicators for status and alarms.

3. Communication
The regulator supports multiple communication protocols, including Ethernet (TCP/IP), RS-485, RS-232, and Can-bus, facilitating internal and external device communication.

4. System Protection
Features include alarm and block status signaling, a watchdog exit, and seamless transition between tension PID and current PID.

5. Control
The ARC2000 measures alternator and excitation tension and current to derive active and reactive power. It uses a programmable PID for excitation control, with limitations set by capability curves and maximum excitation current.

6. Inputs and Outputs of ARC2000
The ARC2000 includes multiple analog and digital inputs and outputs for various control and feedback functions, such as tension and current measurements, start/stop commands, and system status indicators.

7. Display
The display provides information on the initial phase, regulator status, and signaling for various operational states and errors.

8. Inputs and Outputs of S2010
The S2010 card includes inputs for PT100 signals, shunt signals, and excitation control, as well as analog and digital outputs for system feedback and control.

9. Functioning as a Tension Regulator
The ARC2000 operates in several modes, including stand-by, start, reactive power regulation, power factor regulation, and main matching. Each mode involves specific control sequences to maintain desired tension and power settings.

1. Use Thanks to a well-established operative experience in the energy field, BELTRAME C.S.E. has gained the information needed for realizing a new regulator for tension, P.F and reactive power, named ARC2000. The instrument has been conceived in order to reply to the complex operative exigencies we can found nowadays in the energy field. When ARC2000 is placed in a power plant it would be possible to obtain the control of P.F. or VAR, by managing the excitation of an electric machine: alternator or synchronous motor. In case of generators it allows to produce energy by respecting the hour tariff...

9. Functioning as a tension regulator When referring to ARC2000 we can distinguish the following functioning phases: Stand-by mode ARC2000 is connected, but it keeps waiting for a “START”. When the “START” input is enabled, the regulator begins the control phase by giving command to the jumper gate check and of crowbar to the electronic card S2010 which manages thyristors. The field-flashing phase get started, it pre-excite the alternator. Once the minimum tension needed for correct jumper command has been reached, the tension regulator starts the ramp phase by increasing the alternator tension...
