General Description
The MOVISTROB® Series 300 stroboscopes are designed for studying rapid periodic motions through short light flashes. They are microprocessor-controlled, providing high accuracy, stability, and ease of use. The flash rate can be adjusted from 150 to 18000 flashes per minute. Models 350.00 and 350.10 include external trigger capabilities.
Controls and Indicators

Stroboscopic Principle
Stroboscopy allows the observation of high-speed periodic motion by illuminating the object with brief light flashes. The object appears stationary or in slow motion at the appropriate flash frequency. The manual explains how to achieve stopped images, measure RPM and frequencies, and observe slow-motion cycles.
Stopped Images and Phantom Objects
Stopped images occur when the flash frequency matches the object's rotation period. Phantom objects can appear at other frequencies, but they are less distinct. The manual provides equations for calculating these phenomena.
Objects with Finite Rotational Symmetry
For objects with symmetrical axes, the manual explains how to achieve stopped images using modified equations.
Replacing Flash Tube and Fuses
To replace the flash tube, ensure the stroboscope is turned off and unplugged. Allow the bulb to cool for at least 2 minutes before removal. Gently pull out the 4-pin tube and insert a new one. If the tube is tight, unscrew the housing and use a screwdriver to loosen it. Close the housing before operation. A new tube may take up to an hour to function properly. Avoid unnecessary use of the flash bulb to extend its life, which is approximately 350 hours. Replace the fuse (0.5 A or 0.63 A for 110V AC) when the housing is open.
Maintenance and Repair
If the instrument appears unsafe, discontinue use. This includes physical damage or malfunction. Repairs and calibration should be performed by trained personnel or returned to the manufacturer.
