Smart Modem Communication for the Industry and Energy Market InduBox PSTN SIA Unblockable ultra stable PSTN alarm transmitter and V.92 modem Industrial PSTN modem with high level electromagnetical immunity and embedded SIA & Contact ID protocol for alarm equipments. Next to GSM/GPRS modems Bausch Datacom also developed PSTN modems in the typical InduBox housing for the electricity market in Belgium. In this market (in Belgium) the generic EMC immunity standards are not applicable. For example: to test the immunity of GSM and also PSTN modems to radiated electromagnetical fields from digital radio telephones Laborelec creates a test environment which generates 30 V/m field strengths in stead of the standard 'normal' field strength of 3 V/m (CISPR24 level = 3 V/m). The result of all these extended electromagnetical immunity tests is the Indubox PSTN SIA, an industrial modem for analogue communiction over PSTN lines in heavy-duty industrial environments, but also an alarm transmitter over PSTN with embedded SIA & Contact ID protocol. The modem is built in the traditional Bausch InduBox housing; it is a double sealable housing (by sealing screw and by lead wire) with transparent lid. The modem has two different and parallel usuable isolated serial interfaces, one RS-232 (3-wire), one RS-485 (3-wire). Removable Phoenix terminal blocks with screw contacts (2-pins plug for mains, 3-pins plug for RS-232 and RS-485 interface) make installation easier. Additional to the electromagnetical immunity to a very high level, the Bausch InduBox PSTN modem has other important industrial features: a wall mountable, non-flammable and sealable housing, a wide range power supply (90-253 Vac), a 3-level watchdog with programmed reset every 24 hours, etc... Those features are not present on standard desktop PSTN modems. The configuration can be done via a standard RJ-45 RS-232 serial interface with 8 contacts via AT-commands. To monitor the status of the InduBox PSTN SIA we have implemented 12 LED indicators. The embedded socket modem is based on the most recent Conexant technology (Harley 2 technology) and is made by Delta Design, a Bausch engineering company.
