Product catalog summary
Introduction
This manual provides essential guidance for the installation, operation, and maintenance of Bardiani Valvole's adjustable pneumatic by-pass valves. It is crucial for qualified technicians to review this document before handling the valves, with updates available on the manufacturer's website.
1. Safety, Warning, and Mandatory Signs
The manual details various warning signs, including risks of personal injury, hand crushing, heavy loads, severe burns, and explosions. Operators are required to use protective gloves, hard hats, safety footwear, and suitable clothing. Only skilled personnel should perform dismantling and maintenance operations.
2. General Safety Warnings
The valves are designed solely for moving fluids and should not be used for other purposes. They must not be used in explosive or fire-risk environments unless specified by the manufacturer. Bardiani Valvole is not liable for improper use.
3. Technical Data
The valves operate at a maximum pressure of 10 bar and are made from AISI 316L material, complying with the PED 2014/68/EU directive. Gasket materials include EPDM, FKM, HNBR, and PTFE, with specific temperature and chemical compatibility.
4. Checking / Unpacking / Lifting
Upon receipt, check the valve for transport damage and ensure it matches the order. The valve should be lifted carefully, ensuring no parts are disassembled or loose.
5. Installation
Installation should be performed by experts, ensuring correct air pressure and minimizing stress from vibrations and thermal expansion. The flow direction should minimize water hammer, and proper clearances should be maintained for maintenance.
6. Operation
Before operation, inspect the valve by supplying air to the actuator and checking its function. There is a risk of hand crushing during operation.
7. Troubleshooting
Common issues include external leaks due to worn gaskets or excessive pressure, and difficulty in operation due to incorrect elastomer types or actuator positioning. Solutions involve replacing gaskets, adjusting operating conditions, and ensuring correct installation.
8. Cleaning
Valves should be cleaned with appropriate detergents by expert personnel. Protective gear is necessary due to the risk of burns from hot surfaces. After installation or servicing, an internal washing cycle is recommended before use with food liquids.
Internal Washing Cycle (CIP)
The document outlines a Cleaning-In-Place (CIP) cycle for internal washing, involving several phases: an initial rinse with chlorine- and chloride-free water at ambient temperature, washing with caustic soda (NaOH) at 1% at 70°C, an intermediate rinse, and a final wash with nitric acid (HNO3) at 0.5% at 70°C. The recommended velocity for the washing product is 2m/s, with risks of stainless steel corrosion and damage to elastomers.
Disposal
At the end of its service life, the device must be recycled according to local legislation. Hazardous residues should be handled appropriately. The valve is composed of AISI 316L and AISI 304 stainless steel, elastomers, plastic, and electrical components. Before disconnection, ensure the line is not in use, empty and clean the line, disconnect air and power supplies, and follow lifting and disassembly guidelines.
Maintenance
Maintenance should be performed by expert technicians with the line stopped and utilities disconnected. Precautions include discharging fluid pressure and wearing protective gloves. Cleaning involves washing valve parts and using safety gear. Replacement of worn parts should use original spare parts. Scheduled maintenance includes replacing valve gaskets every 12 months and actuator gaskets every 24 months, with checks for leaks and operational correctness.
Tools for Disassembly/Reassembly
The document lists tools necessary for disassembly and reassembly of specific valve models (BBZS5, BBYS5, BBWS51), including descriptions and diagrams of components.
Warranty
Bardiani Valvole products are warranted against defects for 12 months from delivery. The warranty covers repair or replacement of defective parts but excludes elastomers and electrical components. It does not cover faults from incorrect transportation, installation, use, or maintenance, nor normal wear and tear.
Recommendations
Consultation of the manual is mandatory before installation, use, and maintenance. The buyer is responsible for assessing product suitability. Bardiani Valvole reserves the right to update product information without notice. The company is not liable for indirect damages such as loss of business or profits.
