Measurement Microphone Kit MMK-2 High performance acoustic measurements Ideal For Testing : LOUDSPEAKERS HOME THEATRE iPOD DOCKS INTEGRATED HIFI STUDIO SIGNAL CHAIN The MMK-2 Measurement Microphone Kit and the MMC-3 Measurement Microphone Calibrator are accessories for Audio Precision analyzers, used when performing acoustic response measurements. MMK-2 and MMC-3 are directly compatible with Audio Precision’s APx500 Series analyzers and also with AP2700, ATS-2 and System Two instruments. MMK-2 Measurement Microphone Kit Microphone Highlights • Sensitivity: 50 mV/Pa • Frequency Response: 3 Hz–20 kHz • Dynamic Range: 15–146 dB SPL • Temperature: –40 to +120°C • Polarization: Prepolarized Which AP analyzer? Both the 2700 Series and the APx Series are appropriate choices for acoustic test. The 2700 Series uses MLS while the APx uses a gated chirp to eliminate reflections. Acoustic response testing of loudspeakers requires a highly accurate microphone with known performance to capture the loudspeaker’s output in an acoustic field. The MMK-2, manufactured for Audio Precision by PCB Piezotronics / Larson Davis, satisfies this requirement. The kit is comprised of the model 377B02 pre-polarized 1/2" freefield microphone capsule, the integrated 1/2" model 426E07 microphone preamplifier and the model 482A21 36 V power supply. Included are two coaxial cables terminated in BNC connectors, and a chart of the microphone’s frequency response that can be used to derive a correction curve to cancel out the response variations of the microphone from the measurement.

The optional MMC-3 Measurement Microphone Calibrator allows you to do just that. The MMC-3 contains a calibrated acoustic transducer that can be set to either of two standard acoustic levels, 94 dB SPL or 114 dB SPL. It is designed to be mounted directly on the microphone capsule for reference level setting. Frequency response of microphone is flat within 2 dB from 3 Hz to 20 kHz. The nominally flat response is the free field response while the curve with the roll-off...
