Product catalog summary
Overview: This datasheet provides technical specifications and details for the MMK-2 Measurement Microphone Kit and the MMC-3 Measurement Microphone Calibrator, both designed for use with Audio Precision analyzers.
Specifications:
  • Microphone Model 377B02: Pre-polarized, free-field response, sensitivity of 50 mV/Pa, frequency range of 3 Hz to 20 kHz, dynamic range of 15 to 146 dB SPL, and operating temperature range from -40 to +120°C. Compliant with IEC61094-4, IEC61672, and IEC60651 standards.
  • Preamplifier Model 426E01: Frequency range of 6 Hz to 125 kHz, attenuation of 0.05 dB, noise levels under 2.8 μV (A-weighted), and BNC female connector.
  • Power Supply Model 482A21: Provides 36 VDC power, includes external power supply, and features a BNC female input connector.
Procedures:
  • The MMK-2 kit is used for acoustic response testing of loudspeakers, capturing output in an acoustic field with high accuracy.
  • The MMC-3 calibrator provides a reference acoustic level, with settings at 94 dB SPL or 114 dB SPL, and is mounted directly on the microphone capsule.
Standards and Calibration:
  • Both the microphone and calibrator are calibrated under A2LA accreditation, ensuring compliance with ISO/IEC17025 standards.
Recommendations:
  • The MMK-2 kit is ideal for testing loudspeakers, home theatre systems, TVs, laptops, iPod docks, integrated HiFi systems, and studio signal chains.
  • For high-performance acoustic measurements, the 2700 Series and APx Series analyzers are recommended, utilizing MLS and gated chirp techniques respectively.
Important Notes:
  • Components of the MMK-2 kit are sourced from third parties, and Audio Precision offers a 1-year warranty.
  • Specifications are provided by the manufacturer, PCB Piezotronics, and while believed accurate, are not guaranteed by Audio Precision.

Measurement Microphone Kit MMK-2 High performance acoustic measurements Ideal For Testing : LOUDSPEAKERS HOME THEATRE iPOD DOCKS INTEGRATED HIFI STUDIO SIGNAL CHAIN The MMK-2 Measurement Microphone Kit and the MMC-3 Measurement Microphone Calibrator are accessories for Audio Precision analyzers, used when performing acoustic response measurements. MMK-2 and MMC-3 are directly compatible with Audio Precision’s APx500 Series analyzers and also with AP2700, ATS-2 and System Two instruments. MMK-2 Measurement Microphone Kit Microphone Highlights •  Sensitivity: 50 mV/Pa   •  Frequency Response:   3 Hz–20 kHz •  Dynamic Range: 15–146 dB SPL   •  Temperature: –40 to +120°C   •  Polarization: Prepolarized   Which AP analyzer? Both the 2700 Series and the APx Series are appropriate choices for acoustic test. The 2700 Series uses MLS while the APx uses a gated chirp to eliminate reflections. Acoustic response testing of loudspeakers requires a highly accurate microphone with known performance to capture the loudspeaker’s output in an acoustic field. The MMK-2, manufactured for Audio Precision by PCB Piezotronics / Larson Davis, satisfies this requirement. The kit is comprised of the model 377B02 pre-polarized 1/2" freefield microphone capsule, the integrated 1/2" model 426E07 microphone preamplifier and the model 482A21 36 V power supply. Included are two coaxial cables terminated in BNC connectors, and a chart of the microphone’s frequency response that can be used to derive a correction curve to cancel out the response variations of the microphone from the measurement.

MMC-3 Calibrator Many measurements require a known acoustic level to be used as a reference for the measurement instrument. The optional MMC-3 Measurement Microphone Calibrator allows you to do just that. The MMC-3 contains a calibrated acoustic transducer that can be set to either of two standard acoustic levels, 94 dB SPL or 114 dB SPL. It is designed to be mounted directly on the microphone capsule for reference level setting. Frequency response of microphone is flat within 2 dB from 3 Hz to 20 kHz. The nominally flat response is the free field response while the curve with the roll-off is...
