CLINICAL REFRACTOMETERS

Product catalog summary
Overview: This document provides detailed information on ATAGO's clinical refractometers, which are used to measure the refractive index of solutions to determine concentrations, particularly in clinical settings for serum protein and urine specific gravity measurements.
Measurement Method: The refractometers require a single drop of the sample solution to be placed on the prism surface. The measurement is initiated by pressing the START/OFF switch, with results displayed in three seconds.
Clinical Refractometers: These instruments utilize the refractive index method to measure total protein in serum, based on a scale developed by Dr. Matsumura from extensive clinical analyses. The refractometers also correlate refractive index with urine specific gravity.
Product Specifications:
  • UG-α Digital Urine Specific Gravity Refractometer: Features include a measurement range of 1.0000 to 1.0600, minimum indication of 0.0001, and accuracy of ±0.0010. It operates with a 9V battery and is IP64 water-resistant.
  • PAL-10S Digital Hand-held Compact Refractometer: Offers a measurement range of 1.000 to 1.060, minimum indication of 0.001, and accuracy of ±0.001. It uses 2 AAA batteries and is IP65 water-resistant.
  • MASTER-SUR/Nα and MASTER-SUR/NM: These models measure urine specific gravity, serum protein, and refractive index with a scale range of 1.000 to 1.060 for urine S.G. and 0.0 to 12.0g/100ml for serum protein. They feature automatic temperature compensation and are water-resistant.
  • MASTER-URC/Nα and MASTER-URC/NM: Designed for urine specific gravity and refractive index measurements, these models are simple to use, portable, and feature automatic temperature compensation with IP65 water resistance.
Compliance and Manufacturing: All ATAGO refractometers comply with HACCP, GMP, and GLP standards and are manufactured in Japan.
Contact Information: The document provides contact details for ATAGO's headquarters in Japan and various international offices.

CLINICAL REFRACTOMETERS-1

CLINICAL REFRACTOMETERS Refractive index of a solution varies according to the its concentration. Hence, its concentration is obtained from its refractive index. The refractive index of blood serum or plasma depends mainly upon its protein concentration, as proteins are one of the major constituents. This instrument has been designed to use the refractive index method for measuring total protein in serum. The protein scale has been prepared after extensive clinical analyses undertaken by Dr. Matsumura, Professor of Biochemistry at the Tokyo Woman's Medical University. The scale developed by Dr. Matsumura is based on the results obtained from over 1400 cases and has been incorporated into ATAGO refractometers. This is the most reliable scale currently available. As the same as serum protein, there is a correlation between refractive index by a refractometer and urine specific gravity by a hydrometer. Urine specific gravity can be taken from refractive index. Digital Urine Specific Gravity Refractometer UG-a Cat.No.3464 This new Digital Urine Specific Gravity Refractometer UG-a(alpha) is an upgraded version of the UG-1. The minimum scale indication has been improved to display the fourth decimal. After pressing the START key, with the sample placed on the prism, the measurement values will be displayed on the LCD streaming as an electric message board.
