TECH Where water is re-circulated for economic and envi- | ronmental reasons, grease, oil, fat, floating and suspended solids, settling material, and dissolved components need to be separated to provide good and uniform water quality. Also recovery of valuable product from the water may be another additional objective. In addition, clogging and excessive wear of pipelines and other associated equipment is prevented, which increases the operating reliability of the production plant.

FLOTATION TECHNOLOGY Dissolved Air Flotation is used as final step of pre-treatment not only to remove the floatable matter but also to prevent toxic or otherwise harmful substances from entering the sewer system. Conventional gravity clarifiers are often incapable to achieve sufficient pre-treatment. The heart of modern biological wastewater treatment plants is the aeration tanks where the pollutants are removed by the living microorganisms. In order to accomplish this process efficiently, Astim provides mechanical surface aerators which are capable of transferring oxygen from atmosphere to the wastewater, while maintaining sufficient uniform mixing of the microorganism with the oxygenated wastewater without breaking up the activated sludge floes.

AERATION TECHNOLOGY Astim provides vertical shaft turbine aerators and horizontal shaft brush aerators to fulfill the mechanical surface aeration necessities of different industrial plants with the most efficient solution. The aerator equipment is designed considering the power, speed, and shearing forces, which will mix the liquor without breaking up the activated sludge floes. As the aerator rotates, the air is drawn into the liquid behind the blades and mixes with the wastewater in the region of the greatest turbulence. ^ Vertical Surface Aerators ^ Horizontal Surface Aerators

Clarification is the process of separating solids from the liquic^ by the principle of creating floes from the suspended material and let these floes settle by gravity in a calculated retention Ltime. Removal of settle-able solids and floating material reduces the suspended solid content.
