The load power should be reduced according to the derating curve if the ambient temperature exceeds rated values. For transient loads, such as pulses, the resistor should be mounted and evaluated in the product. Constant application of voltage above the rated voltage can degrade performance and reliability. The maximum voltage is determined by the formula Vmax = √Pnom ∙ Rnom or the limiting element voltage, whichever is smaller.
