Optical Flats

Product catalog summary
Overview: Artifex Optics provides high-precision optical flats used to measure the flatness of surfaces. These optical flats are available in single and dual surface configurations, made from materials such as BK7, Zerodur, and Fused Silica. They offer accuracy levels of λ/10 and λ/20 for single surface flats, and λ/10 for dual surface flats. Each optical flat comes with a Zygo® test report.

Single Surface Optical Flats: Available in various diameters (25mm to 200mm) and thicknesses (12.5mm to 38mm) with catalog numbers for different materials and accuracy levels.
Dual Surface Optical Flats: Similar specifications to single surface flats but with both surfaces polished for testing applications.
Application Notes: Optical flats are used to visually represent surface flatness through interference fringes when viewed under monochromatic light. They are versatile for inspecting gauge blocks, testing components like windows and mirrors, and serving as flat optical windows for interferometry.

Optical Flats-1

At Artifex Optics we are committed to continue serving the growing demands of the optics community by supplying superior optical components and assemblies, from the simple to the most advanced, in prototype and production quantities. .An optical flat is a precisely polished flat surface which may be used as a reference to measure the flatness of an unknown surface. Artifex Optics offers both single surface and dual surface optical flats in BK7, Zerodur or Fused Silica. We offer two different levels of accuracy: λ/10 and λ/20 for our single surface optical flat. For our dual surface optical flat, λ/10 is available. We provide a Zygo® test report with each flat. Optical Flats-4

Application Notes: Interference fringes formed between an optical flat and a device under test when viewed under monochromatic light give a visual representation of the flatness of the surface being tested. The surface accuracy is indicated by the amount of curvature and spacing between the interference fringes. Measurement of the surface flatness of polished surfaces can be determined visually by comparing the variations between a work surface and the surface of an optical flat. These are versatile optical components used in many applications such as: inspection of gauge blocks for wear and...
