Overview

This document details the specifications, features, and operational guidelines for a series of programmable temperature and process controllers (models C100, C200, C300, C400, C500, and PC series). These controllers utilize a 16-bit microprocessor core with PID control and self-tuning capabilities, designed for precise control of temperature, humidity, pressure, flow rate, proportional valves, and pH values.

Main Features

  • Microprocessor Core: 16-bit CPU with PID control and self-tuning (auto-tuning) for optimal parameter adjustment.
  • Input Signal Options: Supports thermocouples (types K, J, R, S, B, E, N, T, W3, W5, PL-II), RTDs (PT-100 DIN, JPT-100 JIS), analog signals (0-10V, 4-20mA, mV ranges).
  • Control Outputs: Multiple output types including relay, pulse voltage (PWM for SSR), linear analog signals (0-20mA, 0-10V, etc.), and proportional valve control.
  • Drive Capability: Can drive SSR, SCR, motor valves, and other contactors.
  • Control Modes: Forward/reverse control for heating or cooling processes; dual output models support two-way PID control (heating and cooling).
  • Remote Set Value (SV): SV can be set remotely via analog input signals.
  • Alarm Functions: 26 selectable alarm modes including heater break alarm (HBA) with current transformer (CT) detection for heating line breakage.
  • Re-transmission Output: Converts process variable (PV) or control output to analog signals for recorders or other devices.
  • Manual/Auto Output: Supports manual override and automatic control switching.
  • Serial Communication: Optional RS-232 or RS-485 interfaces supporting Modbus RTU and ASCII protocols with baud rates up to 38,400 bit/s; RS-485 supports up to 31 controllers on a network.
  • Program Control: Allows programming of up to 16 temperature segments with customizable intervals and repeat counts.

Technical Specifications

  • Power Supply: AC 90-240V (50/60Hz) or optional DC 24V (non-polarized).
  • Power Consumption: 4-5 VA depending on model.
  • Operating Environment: 0 to 65°C (storage), 0 to 50°C (operation), 20-90% RH.
  • Memory: EEPROM with 10-year data retention.
  • Display: Dual display with SV in green and PV in red; digit height varies by model (10-14 mm).
  • Control Accuracy: ±0.3% FS ±1 digit (except B and S thermocouples).
  • Relay Contact Rating: 8A, 250VAC.

Alarm and Safety Features

  • Heater Break Alarm (HBA): Uses CT to detect heating line current; triggers alarm if current falls below set threshold for a defined time period. Output requires relay or logic voltage type control signal.
  • Alarm Output Timing: Configurable hold/delay times from -1999 to +9999 seconds with options for delayed output, immediate output with self-hold, or timed output.
  • Process Control Alarm Output (Optional): Alarms can be programmed to trigger at specific temperature program segments for additional control actions (e.g., furnace door opening, material feeding).

Auto-Tuning Function

The auto-tuning function uses relay ON/OFF cycling to detect process dynamics and calculate optimal PID parameters. During tuning, the process must remain undisturbed. Auto-tuning stops and switches to manual mode without changing PID values if exceptions occur (power failure, output ON/OFF exceeding 2 hours, or manual override activation).

Heating/Cooling Control (Optional)

Dual output models allow simultaneous heating and cooling control with configurable gap or overlap between outputs via parameter "dbnd" to prevent output conflicts.

Manual/Auto Mode Operation

  • Switching between manual and automatic modes is done by holding the A/M key for 2 seconds.
  • Manual mode allows direct setting of output levels (OUT1: 0-100%, OUT2: -0.1 to -100%).
  • Manual mode is indicated by a yellow "MAN" lamp.

Input Signal Broken-Line Detection

If sensor input signal is lost, the controller displays "oL" then "open" and uses the highest temperature as the alarm comparison value to prevent unsafe conditions.

Startup and Display

  • Upon power-up, all LEDs light for 3 seconds to check display integrity.
  • Displays maximum detection value, input signal type code, and unit before entering normal PV/SV display and automatic control mode.

Wiring and Installation

  • Detailed wiring diagrams provided for power supply, input signals, outputs, alarms, CT input, and communication interfaces.
  • Note on terminal function conflicts: if terminals overlap in function, only one function can be selected.
  • Power supply polarity is not required for 24V AC/DC input.
  • Panel cutout dimensions vary by model (e.g., C100: 48×48 mm, C300: 72×72 mm, C400: 96×96 mm, C500: 96×48 mm).

Ordering Information

Models and options can be configured by selecting input types, output types, alarm options (including HBA variants), communication interfaces (RS232/RS485), and power supply options. The document includes detailed order codes for customization.

Summary

This series of controllers offers versatile, reliable, and precise process control with advanced features such as PID auto-tuning, multiple input/output options, comprehensive alarm functions including heater break detection, and flexible communication capabilities. They are suitable for a wide range of industrial applications requiring temperature and process parameter control.

AtSvSV (overshoot) Set parameter AtSv in case the temperature overshoots around SV. Auto-tuning of PID AT adopts Relay ON/OFF to detect the dynamic characteristics of the Process, and calculate the best parameter combination of P, I, & D according to the data. During AT, the operation must be kept under the condition where the process is not interfered. After AT is completed (AT lamp goes off), the three parameters of P, I, & D will renew themselves, and then enter a new PID auto-control mode. If any one of the following situations occurs, AT will stop and enter manual mode without changing values...
