Product catalog summary
Description and Application: The LS 040 and LS 075 suction filters are designed for installation in the suction line of hydraulic system pumps or upstream of charge pumps in hydrostatic drives. They provide protection against wear and malfunction by ensuring full-flow filtration, which helps remove dirt particles from the system.
Performance Features: The filters feature star-shaped pleated filter elements that offer large surface areas, low pressure drops, high dirt-holding capacities, and long service life. Maintenance is optimized with a clogging indicator that signals the appropriate time for filter maintenance.
Materials: The filter head is made of aluminum alloy, the filter bowl is polyamide with glass fiber reinforcement, and seals are made of NBR, with FPM available on request. The filter media is a paper-cellulose web impregnated with resin.
Characteristics: The nominal flow rate is up to 75 l/min (19.8 gpm). The filters are designed to operate with a closed by-pass valve at viscosities ≤ 200 mm²/s (927 SUS) and have a service life of over 1000 operating hours. They are compatible with mineral oil and biodegradable fluids, with a temperature range of -30°C to +100°C.
Filter Fineness and Dirt-Holding Capacity: The filters have a fineness of 50 µm(c) with β-values according to ISO 16889. The dirt-holding capacity is measured in grams of test dust according to ISO MTD.
Mounting and Connection: Vertical mounting is preferred, with threaded ports according to ISO 228 or DIN 13 and SAE standard J514. The filters are equipped with a connection for clogging indicators, which can be either electrical or optical.
Quality Assurance: ARGO-HYTOS ensures quality through strict controls and tests according to ISO standards, including verification of collapse/burst pressure, fabrication integrity, material compatibility, pressure drop evaluation, and resistance to flow fatigue.
Spare Parts: Original ARGO-HYTOS spare parts are recommended to maintain the functionality and features of the filters. Replacement filter elements and other parts are listed in the selection chart.

Suction Filters In-line mounting • Connection up to G1A / -20 SAE • Nominal flow rate up to 75 l/min / 19.8 gpm Application To be installed in the suction line of the pumps of hydraulic systems resp. upstream of the charge pumps of hydrostatic drives. Performance features Protection against wear: By means of filter elements that even in full-flow filtration meet the highest demands regarding cleanliness classes. Protection against malfunction: By means of full-flow filtration in the system return, the pumps above all are protected from dirt particles remaining in the system after assembly, repairs, or which are generated by wear or enter the system from outside. Filter elements Flow direction from outside to center. The star-shaped pleating of the filter material results in: > large filter surfaces > low pressure drop > high dirt-holding capacities > long service life Filter maintenance By using a clogging indicator the correct moment for maintenance is stated and guarantees the optimum utilization of the filter life. Materials Filter head: Filter bowl: Seals: Filter media: Aluminum alloy Polyamide, GF reinforced NBR (FPM on request) Paper-cellulose web, impregnated with resin Accessories Electrical and / or optical clogging indicators are available. All filters are delivered with a plugged clogging indicator connection G'A. As clogging indicators either manometers or vacuum switches can be used. For the appropriate clogging indicator see catalog sheet 60.20. Remarks: > The start of the red area respectively the actuating pressure of the vacuum switch has always to be higher than the cracking pressure of the by-pass valve (see Selection Chart, column 7). > Clogging indicators are optional and always delivered detached from the filter. > The filters listed in this chart are standard filters. Other designs available on request.
