Product catalog summary
Description
The 1240i is a cost-effective, programmable step motor driver designed for various motion control applications. It integrates a sophisticated controller with a 50-watt microstepping amplifier. The device supports standalone motion control programs via Applied Motion’s Si Programmer™ Windows software and can be controlled in real-time from a host PC or PLC using the SiNet Command Language™. For multi-axis applications, up to eight 1240i drives can be networked using the SiNet Hub-8, allowing integration with other Si™ drive models.

Features
  • Standalone operation with Si Programmer™ Windows software.
  • Real-time operation from a host PC or PLC using SiNet Command Language™.
  • Requires a 12 – 42 VDC power supply, up to 1.5 A.
  • Programmable motor current up to 1.2 amps/phase.
  • Microstepping capability from 2,000 to 50,800 steps/rev.
  • Speeds up to 50 rev/sec.
  • 20 kHz PWM amplifier with mixed fast/slow decay.
  • 8 optically isolated inputs (5 – 24 V) for sinking or sourcing logic.
  • 3 optically isolated outputs (30 VDC, 100 mA).
  • Automatic idle current reduction.
  • Compatible with 4, 6, or 8 lead step motors, sizes 11 – 23.
  • Compact size with specific mounting hole spacing.

Recommended Motors
The document lists several recommended motors with specifications such as size, connection type, current, and torque. Examples include:
  • HT11-012: 1.10 sq x 1.32, series connection, 1.0 A, 7 oz-in torque.
  • HT23-399: 2.22 sq x 2.99, parallel connection, 1.2 A, 187 oz-in torque.

Torque Curves
The document includes torque curves for various motors, showing the relationship between speed (rev/sec) and torque (oz-in) at 2000 steps/rev. These curves help in understanding the performance of different motors under varying speeds.

Power Supply
The document mentions the use of 24 Volt and 40 Volt power supplies for the operation of the 1240i driver.
