Accuracies of 1 mm are to be maintained for the welded assemblies, with a length of up to 20 metres for one-sided box-type tippers. An API laser tracker can measure much more accurately; its measurement range is up to 60 meters, depending on the model. TRACKER3TM If kinematics, rotating and functional elements have to be used up in vehicle production, measurement points may sometimes have to be processed several times; automation is helpful here, and API programs it for the customer, or at least provides assistance. A further advantage: automation guides the workers (who do not have to be specialised measurement technicians) through the measurements with the help of a measurement plan that covers all the assemblies (e.g. frame, wagon body, body, skip and flap).
