STAF® A SELF-BORED TUBE SYSTEM FOR PRESSUREMETER TEST According to EN ISO 22476-4 standard The last born product of the research carried out by the Engineers of Geomatech, the STAF® Self Bored Tube System was developed to conform to the STDTM specifications spelled out in the EN ISO 22476-4 Standard for Ménard Pressuremeter® Testing, that is the Slotted Tube technique with inside Disintegrating Tool and Mud circulation. This equipment is particularly recommended to emplace the slotted tube in non-homogeneous or overburden layers. This drilling method may be carried out with any type of drilling rig, as long as it is fitted with a hydraulic rotary percussion equipment (VibroSTAF® method) or a rotation head with simultaneous double directions (RotoSTAF® method). Up to now, emplacing a slotted tube was considered as a difficult operation, now it can be performed together while drilling, avoiding borehole wall remoulding. This new technique brings a vast improvement to the operation and to the geotechnical results.
