Co-extrusion Head Design

  • Lower material consumption during cleaning.
  • Reduced melt pressure during extrusion.
  • Optimized flow channel orientation and development.

The head can be fed by three to five extruders, allowing for material and color differentiation. A flow valve is included for cases where one extruder feeds two channels, facilitating easy material distribution adjustments.

Technical Specifications
The extrusion line includes:
  • Two main extruders (EA 60 LD 33:1) for outer and inner PEX-B layers, equipped with 3-component gravimetric dosing units.
  • One co-extruder (EA 35 LD 28:1) for intermediate bonding layers, with a 1-component gravimetric dosing unit.
  • One co-extruder (EA 35 LD 28:1) for the central barrier layer, also with a 1-component gravimetric dosing unit.
The typical pipe structure consists of PEX-B, bonding agent, EVOH (oxygen barrier), bonding agent, and PEX-B layers. Bonding layers are 50 my thick, and the barrier layer is 100 my thick. The extrusion system ensures precision control within 1%. The line's output is 300 kg/h, and it can also process standard HDPE pipes.

Barrier Layer Efficiency
The central barrier layer, with a thickness of 100 my, ensures oxygen permeability is below the DIN 4726 standard limit of 0.1 g/m2 per day at 40°C. The barrier's efficiency is influenced by layer thickness and operating temperature.
