Principal AssemblyThe color sensors consist of three Si-PIN photodiodes integrated on a chip, arranged in a ring with a 2.0 mm diameter. These photodiodes are equipped with dielectric spectral filters for red, green, and blue colors. The sensors are available in TO5 and SOP8 packages, with options for custom packaging.
High-Quality Color FilterThe MCS3 sensors use dielectric spectral filters, which offer better aging resistance and high temperature stability compared to absorption-based filters. These filters can be customized for specific applications, such as limiting the color gamut.
Signal ProcessingThe sensors provide anodes and a common cathode for each color range. Photocurrent is amplified and converted into voltage using a multi-channel
transimpedance amplifier. The output voltage can be adjusted with suitable resistors, and an A/D converter can digitize the voltages for further processing.
AdvantagesThe three-field color sensors require only three measured values, allowing for low-cost and fast signal processing. The MCS3's compact design enables smaller measuring systems compared to traditional instruments. Unlike LED-measuring systems, the MCS3 measures all three colors simultaneously, making it ideal for time-critical applications.
