Product catalog summary
Introduction: The document introduces the MRGBiCS RGB Sensor, which consists of 19x3 photo diodes integrated on a chip using special PIN silicon technology. These diodes are arranged in a hexagonal matrix structure and are equipped with dielectric RGB filters for color detection.
Application: The sensor is suitable for general color detection, checks, and control options, and can be used in portable color readers for both consumer and industrial applications.
Features: Key features include high transmission, no aging of the filter, high temperature stability, high signal frequency, reduced cross talk, compact size, LCC package, and EU RoHS conformity.
Spectral Characteristics: The document provides a graph showing the typical sensitivity of the RGB color sensor evaluated via broadband light with a limited angle of incidence.
Maximum Ratings/Characteristics: The document lists various technical specifications such as light sensitivity area, typical photo sensitivity, reverse voltage, dark current, terminal capacitance, rise and fall time of photo-current, noise equivalent power, cross-talk, angle of incidence, operating temperatures, and soldering peak temperature.
Package Overview: The sensor is available in an 8-pin LCC package, and care must be taken to protect the sensitive surface from scratches.
Pin Configuration: The document provides a table detailing the pin configuration for the sensor.
Soldering Profile: A recommended reflow soldering profile for Pb-Free assembly is provided, emphasizing the importance of adhering to specified limits to avoid damaging the sensor.
Handling: The sensor surface should be kept clean, and ESD precautions should be observed. Sensors are baked before packing and should be baked again before soldering.
Packaging Information: Standard packing is tape & reel, with specific dimensions provided for the tape.
Application Notes: The document includes a circuit diagram for converting photo current to voltage and notes on using the sensor with narrowband luminous sources and the angle of incidence.
Ordering Information: Details for ordering the MRGBiCS series in the LCC8 package are provided.
Warnings: The document includes warnings against using the product as a safety or emergency stop device and emphasizes the importance of using the latest version of the data sheet for development purposes.

VERSION DATA SHEET MRGBiCS RGB-Sensor - LCC 1 INTRODUCTION The RGB Sensors are made of 19x3 photo diodes integrated on chip (special PIN silicon technology with advanced sensitivity). The diodes are aligned as segments of a multiple-element hexagonal matrix structure with the diameter of 2mm. The design as Si-PIN photo diodes allows signal frequencies up to the MHz-range. In order to achieve minimal cross talk between the photodiodes the individual sectors are separated from each other by additional structures. Each of these photodiodes is sensitized with dielectric RGB1 (red, green, blue) filters...

It is important to shield the single color diodes to minimize cross-talk among the 3 colored areas/diodes. In general the TrD has to be connected with the Vref or in the case of MAZeT’s MTI04C-amplifier with the 4th channel of it). 8 Please note the sensor includes...

VERSION DATA SHEET MRGBiCS RGB-Sensor - LCC 9 HANDLING Take care to keep the sensor surface clean. Dust or scratches will adversely affect the sensor parameters. Sensors should be handled like all optical devices. It is important to use normal ESD handling and precautions for ESD sensitive devices. Each sensor element is baked prior packing for shipment (24 hours at 125°C). Devices are packed in a sealed aluminized envelope with humidity indicator card and desiccant. Keep the opening and handling time of bag as short as possible and note the specified MSL (see chapter Fehler! Verweisquelle konnte...
