SFH 464

Product catalog summary
Overview: The SFH 464 E7800 is a GaAlAs Light Emitting Diode (LED) with a peak wavelength of 660 nm, designed for applications in factory automation. It features a clear epoxy package and high reliability, with the cathode electrically connected to the case.
Specifications: The LED operates within a temperature range of -40°C to 80°C and can handle a maximum forward current of 50 mA. It has a forward voltage range of 2.1 V to 2.7 V and a radiant intensity of 0.8 to 2.6 mW/sr at 50 mA. The device is ESD protected up to 2 kV according to ANSI/ESDA/JEDEC JS-001 standards.
Characteristics: The LED has a spectral bandwidth of 25 nm at 50% Irel, max and a half angle of 23°. It features a rise and fall time of 100 ns each, with a capacitance of 30 pF at 0 V and 1 MHz. The thermal resistance from junction to case is 160 K/W, and from junction to ambient is 450 K/W.
Radiation and Safety: The LED emits radiation in the visible red range without infrared. It falls into the class exempt group for photo biological safety according to IEC 62471:2006, indicating no significant risk under normal exposure conditions.
Handling and Soldering: The device is compatible with TTW soldering processes, with specific preheating and cooling rates. It is recommended to avoid exposure to aggressive substances to prevent material degradation.
Notes and Disclaimer: The datasheet includes a disclaimer that the information provided should not be considered as assured characteristics. The components are not designed for use in safety-critical or medical applications without further analysis and coordination with the manufacturer.

Ordering Information  Type Ordering Code An aperture is used in front of the component for measurement of the radiant intensity and the half angle (diameter of the aperture: 1.1 mm; distance of aperture to case back side: 4.0 mm). This ensures that solely the radiation in axial direction emitting directly from the chip surface will be evaluated during measurement of the radiant intensity. Radiation reflected by the bottom plate (stray radiation) will not be evaluated. These reflections impair the projection of the chip surface by additional optics (e.g. long-range light reflection switches)....

Within the risk grouping system of this IEC standard, the device specified in this data sheet fall into the class exempt group (exposure time 10000 s). Under real circumstances (for exposure time, conditions of the eye pupils, observation distance), it is assumed that no endangerment to the eye exists from these devices. As a matter of principle,...

Radiant intensity: Measured at a solid angle of Ω = 0.01 sr Brightness: The brightness values are measured with a tolerance of ±11%. Reverse Operation: This product is intended to be operated applying a forward current within the specified range. Applying any continuous reverse bias or forward bias below the voltage range of light emission shall be avoided because it may cause migration which can change the electro-optical characteristics or damage the LED. Forward Voltage: The forward voltages are measured with a tolerance of ±0.1 V. Total radiant flux: Measured with integrating sphere. Typical...
