Overview: The Drexelbrook CM-3 Cut Monitor is a device designed to measure water content in crude oil or refined products, using HART® communication protocol. It provides digital readouts of water percentage from 0 to 50%.
Specifications: The CM-3 operates as a two-wire transmitter with a power requirement of 20 to 50 Vdc and outputs 4-20 mAdc. It functions within an ambient temperature range of -30° to +140°F and is housed in a Nema 4X rated enclosure. Accuracy is ±0.1% for 1% and 5% water ranges, and ±5% for 10%, 30%, and 50% ranges.
Design and Installation: The sensing element is easily installed through a tee in a vertical pipe section and can be removed without draining lines. Optimal performance is achieved by mounting the sensor at a 90° bend in the pipe. The device is factory-calibrated and adjustable for seasonal changes using proprietary software.
Features: The CM-3 includes a digital local indicator, is resistant to ambient temperature changes, and requires minimal maintenance due to its solid-state design. It features a Cote-Shield™ element to prevent paraffin build-up.
Applications: Suitable for well testers, freewater knockouts, heater treaters, and other separation vessels. It can also be used in LACT units to divert wet oil for further processing.
Safety and Compliance: The sensing element is intrinsically safe for all hazards, and the electronics are safe for Groups C & D (Div. 1 & 2) when supplied from an intrinsically safe power source. The device is explosion-proof with worldwide approvals.
Ordering Information: Available in various models for different pipe sizes and configurations, with options for integral or remote electronics. Spare parts and accessories are available for different pipe sizes and in-tank applications.
Additional Specifications: The CM-3TM Smart Cut Monitor outputs 4-20 mA, uses HART® protocol, and requires a supply voltage of 20-30 Vdc. It has a measurement range of 0-1% to 0-50% water, with repeatability of ±0.5% span and resolution of 0.2% span. Calibration is done via PC software with factory-loaded settings.
Housing Options: Includes remote Nema 4X explosion-proof and indicating, integral Nema 4X explosion-proof with Drexelcote, and integral Nema 4X explosion-proof.
Agency Approvals: Approved by CSA and FM.
Digital Indicator: Available for remote electronics, featuring a 3.5 digit liquid crystal display calibrated for % water.
Environmental and Safety Standards: Electronic housing meets Nema 1-5 and 12 including Nema 4X. FM approved explosion-proof for various classes and groups. Cable and sensor are intrinsically safe for all Groups, Division 1 & 2.
Dimensions: Detailed dimensions are provided for both integral and remote mount housings.
