3 The quantity of straw produced in an area of cultivation and the economic possibilities of transport determine the location and the capacity of a processing plant. If the chosen location offers favourable climatic conditions, straw which has been pressed to bales can be stored in the open air. In wet areas straw should be protected by a canvas cloth or be stored inside under a roof. A good straw quality is only ensured by bringing the straw immediately to the appropriate storage.
