LASER WELDING LW300AH Aluminum High Speed Laser Welding • Three times faster than conventional Nd:YAG laser welders • High power density • Small spot diameter • Deep, crack-free welds with minimal heat input • Long focal length Laser welding of aluminum alloys presents significant challenges for manufacturers of Lithium Ion battery cases, electronic packages, PC chassis and other products – particularly when high speed and deep weld penetration are critical objectives. Even with proper alloy selection, joint design and fit up, traditional pulsed Nd:YAG lasers are slow, and produce shallow penetration welds. Miyachi America Corporation’s novel approach couples MORE LASER POWER into a smaller fiber, thus achieving smaller spot diameters and higher power density needed to overcome the reflective characteristics of aluminum and achieve the absorption phase of the metal. Our proprietary high-brightness resonator design employs longer focal length optics which assures deeper weld penetration – up to 600µ or more – and allows a greater working distance without increasing laser output power. LW300AH, configured for HIGH SPEED ALUMINUM welding applications, is capable of seam weld speeds of up to 40mm per second; 3 TIMES FASTER than any other fiber delivered 300 watt Nd:YAG laser. LW300AH’s high-brightness design achieves significant increases in laser welding speed and deeper penetration in laser weldable aluminum alloys: deep penetration, crack-free welds are possible using this innovative laser design – with weld speeds up to 3 TIMES FASTER than conventional laser welding methods.
