Even with proper alloy selection, joint design and fit up, traditional pulsed Nd:YAG lasers are slow, and produce shallow penetration welds. Miyachi America Corporation’s novel approach couples MORE LASER POWER into a smaller fiber, thus achieving smaller spot diameters and higher power density needed to overcome the reflective characteristics of aluminum and achieve the absorption phase of the metal. Our proprietary high-brightness resonator design employs longer focal length optics which assures deeper weld penetration – up to 600µ or more – and allows a greater working distance without increasing laser output power. LW300AH, configured for HIGH SPEED ALUMINUM welding applications, is capable of seam weld speeds of up to 40mm per second; 3 TIMES FASTER than any other fiber delivered 300 watt Nd:YAG laser.
