Overview: Alphasense 4-20 mA transmitter boards are designed for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to create transmitter heads for fixed installation systems. These boards are pre-calibrated and compatible with Alphasense "B" Series Toxic and "A" Series two-year
oxygen sensors, providing equivalent performance to individual sensor data sheets.
Specifications: The transmitter boards operate within a wide voltage range of +7.5 to +35.0 Volts DC and have a current requirement of less than 100 mA. They offer an output of 4 mA at zero gas concentration (or 15% Oxygen) and 20 mA at full-scale (or 25% Oxygen), both user adjustable. The maximum load at 20 mA, 24 VDC is 825 ohms, with a supply voltage dependence of less than ±0.2% output.
Design and Features: Each board comes with mounting pillars for enclosure installation, and the sensor-to-gas aperture design is customizable by the OEM. The boards feature exceptional stability, minimal settling time, and low RFI susceptibility due to an unbroken ground plane. The
circuit board is conformally coated with an acrylic sealant for reliable operation in extreme conditions.
Sensor Compatibility: The boards support a range of sensors, including Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen Sulfide, Sulfur Dioxide, Nitrogen Dioxide, Chlorine, and Oxygen, with various full-scale gas concentrations as detailed in Table 1.
Calibration and Protection: The boards include multiturn zero and span potentiometers for calibration and diode protection to the voltage regulator. In the event of power-down, the toxic gas versions short-circuit the sensor.
