PureBallast 3.0 Ballast water treatment system PureBallast 3.0 effectively neutralizes organisms in ballast water. The new system is smaller and more flexible than its predecessors, yet it consumes 30-60% less power. System description PureBallast 3.0 is a highly compact and energy-efficient ballast water treatment system. Operating without chemicals, it uses an enhanced form of UV treatment to reduce organisms in ballast water to IMO and USCG limits. The modular system accommodates a wide range of ballast water capacities and is competitive throughout the flow range up to 6000 m3/h. Individual PureBallast 3.0 reactors handle 300 m3/h or 1000 m3/h and are connected in parallel up to 3000 m3/h, after which dual systems are used. Treatment with PureBallast 3.0 consists of standard UV treatment enhanced by AOT (advanced oxidation technology). UV light neutralizes organisms either directly or through damage to their DNA, while AOT creates free radicals that cause irreversible cell membrane damage.

System features and benefits • Chemical-free operation PureBallast 3.0 meets biological treatment requirements regardless of water salinity and without the addition or generation of chemicals. The system’s operation does not pose risks to the environment or the crew, nor does it influence corrosion in the ballast water system.
