Product catalog summary
Overview
The document provides technical specifications and details for Alfa Laval's M-Series Plate Heat Exchangers, specifically models M6-FG, M3, M10, and M15. These exchangers are used for utility heating and cooling applications.

Standard Design
The heat exchangers consist of corrugated metal plates with portholes for fluid passage. The plates are assembled between a fixed frame plate and a movable pressure plate, compressed by tightening bolts. Gaskets seal the interplate channels and direct fluids into alternate channels, promoting fluid turbulence and efficient heat transfer.

Working Principle
Channels are formed between plates, allowing two media to flow through alternate channels. Heat is transferred through the plates, creating a counter-current flow for maximum efficiency.

Technical Specifications
  • M3 Model: Liquid flow rate up to 4 kg/s, water heating by steam 50 to 250 kW. Materials include mild steel frame, carbon steel nozzles, and stainless steel plates.
  • M6 Model: Liquid flow rate up to 16 kg/s, water heating by steam 300 to 800 kW. Materials include mild steel frame, carbon steel nozzles, and stainless steel or titanium plates.
  • M10 Model: Liquid flow rate up to 50 kg/s, water heating by steam 0.7 to 3.0 MW. Materials include mild steel frame, carbon steel nozzles, and stainless steel or titanium plates.
  • M15 Model: Liquid flow rate up to 80 kg/s. Materials include mild steel frame, carbon steel nozzles, and stainless steel or titanium plates.

Materials and Connections
Standard materials for frame plates include mild steel with epoxy paint. Nozzles are made of carbon steel, with options for stainless steel or titanium lining. Gaskets are available in Nitrile, EPDM, and other materials. Connections vary by model and include threaded, welded, and flanged options.

Pressure and Temperature Ratings
Each model has specific pressure and temperature ratings, compliant with PED, ASME, and pvcALS™ standards. Maximum heat transfer surfaces and connection sizes are detailed for each model.

Quotation Requirements
To obtain a quotation, details such as flow rates, temperature program, physical properties of liquids, desired working pressure, maximum permitted pressure drop, and available steam pressure are required.

M3, M6, M10, M15 Series Plate Heat Exchanger-1

. kyFor Your Utility Heating and Cooling M-Series Plate Heat Exchangers M6-FG . Applications For your utility heating and cooling duties the industrial plate heat exchangers of Alfa Laval can be used . These are detailed in the following product sheets. Standard design The plate heat exchanger consists of a pack of corrugated metal plates with portholes for the passage of the two fluids between which heat transfer will take place. The plate pack is assembled between a fix frame plate and a movable pressure plate and compressed by tightening bolts. The plates are fitted with a gasket which seals the interplate channel and directs the fluids into alternate channels. The number of plates is determined by the flow rate, physical properties of the fluids, pressure drop and temperature program. The plate corrugations promote fluid turbulence and support the plates against differential pressure. The plate and the pressure plate are fixed between upper bar and lower bar, both of which are fixed to a support column. Connections are located in the frame plate or, if either or both fluids make more than a single pass within the unit, in the frame and pressure plates. Working principle Channels are formed between the plates and the corner ports are arranged so that the two media flow through alternate channels. The heat is transferred through the plate between the channels, and complete counter-current flow is created for highest possible efficiency. The corrugation of the plates provides the passage between the plates, supports each plate against the adjacent one and enhances the turbulence, resulting in efficient heat transfer.
