Product catalog summary
Flow Principle of a Plate Heat Exchanger
The plate heat exchanger operates by transferring heat between two fluids through a series of corrugated metal plates. These plates create channels for fluid flow, promoting turbulence and efficient heat transfer. The design ensures counter-current flow for maximum efficiency.
Applications
Primarily used for general heating and cooling duties, including heating by steam.
Standard Design
The exchanger consists of a pack of corrugated plates with portholes for fluid passage. The plates are compressed between a fixed frame plate and a movable pressure plate, sealed with gaskets to direct fluid flow. The number of plates is determined by flow rate, fluid properties, pressure drop, and temperature requirements.
Typical Capacities
Liquid flow rates can reach up to 50 kg/s (800 gpm), with water heating by steam ranging from 0.7 to 3.0 MW.
Plate and Frame Types
Plate types include M10B, M10M, and M10BD (double wall plates). Frame types are FM, FG, and FD.
Working Principle
Channels formed between plates allow alternate flow of two media, with heat transferred through the plates. The corrugation supports the plates and enhances turbulence.
Standard Materials
Frame plates are made of mild steel with epoxy paint. Nozzles are carbon steel, with options for stainless steel or titanium lining. Plates are available in various alloys, including Stainless Steel Alloy 316/304 and Titanium.
Technical Data
Pressure vessel codes include PED, ASME, and pvcALS™. Mechanical design pressures and temperatures vary by frame type, with FG frames approved for higher pressures in steam systems.
Connections
Connection sizes and standards vary by frame type, with options for DIN, ASME, and JIS standards.
Dimensions
Dimensions vary by model, with maximum heat transfer surfaces of 90 m² for M10B and 60 m² for M10M.
Quotation Requirements
To obtain a quotation, provide flow rates or heat load, temperature program, physical properties of liquids, desired working pressure, maximum permitted pressure drop, and available steam pressure.

M10 M10-BFG Flow principle of a plate heat exchanger Plate heat exchanger Applications General heating and cooling duties. Heating by means of steam. Standard design The plate heat exchanger consists of a pack of corrugated metal plates with portholes for the passage of the two fluids between which heat transfer will take place. The plate pack is assembled between a fix frame plate and a movable pressure plate and compressed by tightening bolts. The plates are fitted with a gasket which seals the interplate channel and directs the fluids into alternate channels. The number of plates is determined by the flow rate, physical properties of the fluids, pressure drop and temperature program. The plate corrugations promote fluid turbulence and support the plates against differential pressure. The plate and the pressure plate are suspended from an upper carrying bar and located by a lower guiding bar, both of which are fixed to a support column. Connections are located in the frame plate or, if either or both fluids make more than a single pass within the unit, in the frame and pressure plates. Typical capacities Liquid flow rate Up to 50 kg/s (800 gpm), depending on media, permitted pressure drop and temperature program. Water heating by steam 0.7 to 3.0 MW Plate types M10B, M10M and M10BD, double wall plates. Frame types FM, FG and FD Working principle Channels are formed between the plates and the corner ports are arranged so that the two media flow through alternate channels. The heat is transferred through the plate between the channels, and complete counter-current flow is created for highest possible efficiency. The corrugation of the plates provides the passage between the plates, supports each plate against the adjacent one and enhances the turbulence, resulting in efficient heat transfer.
