Introduction
In 1994, ALD Vacuum Technologies GmbH pioneered the hardening of low-alloyed materials in a gas flow with the development of the cold chamber, laying the groundwork for vacuum case-hardening. The DualTherm® system represents the next generation of dual chamber plants, building on the success of previous models like the VZKQ and ModulTherm®.

Furnace Design
The DualTherm® furnace incorporates proven components from the ModulTherm® line. It features a forechamber where the charge is introduced via a quench chamber, with options for manual or automatic charging. The charge is transported within the plant by a lift fork located in the cold area of the treatment chamber, ensuring easy maintenance access.

Treatment Chamber
The treatment chamber is designed for temperatures up to 1250 °C, utilizing graphite heating. It includes charge supports for different weight capacities and a convective fan for uniform heating.

Quench System
The modular quench system can be customized with one or two fans and options like reverse quench gas flow. It supports nitrogen and helium as quench gases, with a maximum pressure of 20 bar.

Applications
The DualTherm® plant is suitable for hardening low-alloyed tool steels and vacuum casehardening. It offers processes such as annealing under convection or vacuum, multiple tempering hardening, and vacuum carbonitriding.

Technical Data
Charge dimensions are 600 mm width, 750 mm height, and 1000 mm length, with weights of 500 or 1000 kg. The heating power is 180 kW, and the space requirement is approximately 40 m².
