Pocket Plate Range Data - 2

L type The L type range has the thickest platesand is designed for applications wherethe battery is required to provide areliable source of energy over relatively long discharge periods.Normally, the current is relatively low incomparison with the total stored energyand the discharges are generallyinfrequent. Typical uses are power back- up and bulk energy storage. > M type The M type range is designed forapplications where the batteries are usually required to sustain electrical loads for between 30 minutes to 3 hours or for mixed ˻ loads which involve a mixtureof high and low discharge...

Under these circumstances there is a modification inthe level of the discharge curve andallowances must be made for this when sizing the battery. In order to...

Connector cover In line with EN 50272-2 (safety) with IP2 level. Flame-arresting vent Terminal seal This is mechanically clipped andprovides an excellent seal. Thisminimises carbonation deposits. Plate tab Spot welded to the plateside frames, to the upperedge of the pocket plateand to the plate group bus. Plate group bus Connects the plate tabs with the terminal post. Plate tabs and terminal posts are projection welded to the plate group bus. Separating grids These separate the plates andinsulate the plate frames fromeach other. The grids allowfree circulation of electrolytebetween the...

Alcad has developed a series of standard layouts by which a battery may be ordered. Whether the battery is being installed on arack, in a cabinet or is simply free-standing, the same configuration principles can be applied. There are two ways to configure the battery. The first is the normal method and is used on all LCE..P, MC..P and HC..P cell types. The cells length is used to calculate the row length, shown in figure 1. The second method is shown in figure 2. It is used on themajority of AlcadҒs LBE..P, MB..P and HB..P cells, where the cell is turned through 90˚ and then connected...

Whatever your installation, use these simple guidelines when calculating your preferred configuration.1. From the data in this publication, define the total number of cells in the battery. 2. Divide the length of the available installation area by the cell length (normal mount) or width (crosswise mount). This gives themaximum number of cells per row.3. Divide the width (depth) of the available area by the cell width (normal mount) or length (crosswise mount). This will give themaximum number of rows. For example If we consider a cabinet with three shelves : each shelf has a length of 440...
