GBM Product Guide 240A System - 1

Operators of the 240A Jacking Frame have independent control of pipe jacking and rotation for smooth and continuous advancement. The universal auger bore rig adapter and mounting hardware for the 240A Jacking Frame fits 30-72 inch (762-1,829 mm) track. Weld-on reaming heads are available from 12-72 inch (305-1,829 mm) OD to match steel casing pipe diameter. GUIDED BORING - 240A SYSTEM One of the most common applications for the single stage 240A Jacking Frame is its use in conjunction with a standard auger boring rig. With the GBM providing guidance, contractors are empowered with the ability for longer drives, extreme accuracy and the added benefit of reduced casing diameters. In addition, when the GBM is used in this manner, it can also act as a probing tool for uncharted obstacles with minimal When using the 240A Jacking Frame with an auger boring rig, the pilot tubes establish the desired path on line and grade. The jacking frame is mounted on the auger bore rig rails with a universal adapter. The theodolite and camera are mounted between the jacking frame and auger bore rig to sight-down the center of the pilot tubes. A LED target is placed in the steering head. The theodolite's cross hairs are aligned to the drives line and grade and the camera relays this data to the computer-controlled digital monitor, mounted to the GBM jacking frame, where the operator assesses the targets position. If a line and grade adjustment is necessary, the operator turns the pilot tube string in the appropriate direction, which rotates the steering head and the angled steering head displaces the ground until it's back on line and grade. Once the pilot tubes span the full length of the drive, the weld-on reaming head is connected to the last pilot tube section and welded to the first steel casing section. As the pipe string advances, pilot tube sections are removed from the reception area. When used as a standalone unit, the 240A Jacking Frame gives operators the ability to install up to 24-inch (610 mm) OD, one-meter pipe from a 10-foot (3 m) shaft. Our distinctive dual-walled pilot tube design provides a means to lubricate throughout the drive, thus minimizing jacking force and rotational torque. The 240A Jacking Frame is hydraulically powered with any of our power packs and controlled with an in-shaft remote pendant. Note: Akkerman standard sizes can be customized to suit project needs.
