Earth Pressure Balance Machines (EPBM) - 1

ejacking Systems Many custom cutter tools and drag bit configurations are available for the mixed face or soft ground bidirectional cutter head. Akkerman earth pressure balance Systems are custom built to suit project demands. We work closely with our customers, thoroughly analyzing the project and recommending a System, to complte the job efficiently and on budget. Our highly experienced staff of engineers, technicians, and salespeople are committed to discovering solutions customized for job requirements. The Akkerman name has long been associated with industry leading projects. Earth Pressure Balance Machine (EPBM) Systems have furthered our project realm while offering customers a US manufactured product with the same level of reliability and service options that corne with ail our equipment. The EPBM excavates spoil by balancing the machine face pressure with the soil pressure, thus minimizing ground settlement. Spoils from the cutter chamber are mixed with foam and slurry for ease of removal through the screw conveyors and haul System. Operators, in a control station, guide the machine and monitor targeting data, pressures, positions, speed, torque and flow to pilot an accurate course. A hydraulic jacking frame in the launch shaft advances the machine and when retracted.a new pipe section is inserted. This cross-section of a pipejacking EPBM shows the dtail in each EPBM design. Spoils are transported from the cutter face, through the screw auger and to a conveyor for removal. Three back-up cars, containing the main drive pump, dual electric motors and control console pr詩cde the haul unit. Many cutter head configurations are available for optimum soil displacement from the EPBM face. The control console is located inside the EPBM where operators have full control of ail EPBM functions. The screw conveyor removes spoils and advances them onto the conveyor belt. A section of pipe is place in front of the jacking frame where it will be advanced as the EPBM continues to bore the tunnel at the tunnel's face. Large dirt buckets are filled, dumped and re-filled as spoils are deposited from the conveyor. Spoils are mixed with foam and slurry to assist with the spoil removal process.
