Overview: The 174/e Horizontal Plane Tensile Testing Machine by A.J.T. Equipment Limited is designed for proof load testing of wire chains, ropes, and similar materials. It features a robust construction and advanced control systems to ensure precise and reliable testing.

Straining Unit: The machine includes a long stroke hydraulic cylinder with a double-acting ram. Both the piston head and cylinder ends are equipped with low friction seals. The pulling ram ends in a fixed clevis jaw, mirrored on the moving carriage.

Load Control Console: The console features a digital monitor with a 20mm high character readout, connected to a load cell via a multi-core screened cable. It includes a peak freeze provision for capturing maximum applied load, with a reset function. Pressure control is managed through a valve at the operator's position, and the console includes a PUMP START and STOP button. An optional data acquisition facility is available to display load and extension.

Load Cell: Positioned between the pulling clevis and pull ram, the load cell features a multi-bridge with temperature compensation and close zero balance. It is calibrated according to ISO 7500-1: 1999(E).

Power Pack: The power pack includes a flanged motor close-coupled to a single pump, with filtration provided by a suction line strainer and tank top filler/breather.

Test Bed: The main frame consists of steel section side frames, cross-braced with location points for the moving carriage at incremental positions. The machine includes anchor fixing holes for 'Thor-bolts' to prevent 'tramping'. An adjustable carriage on free-moving rollers allows easy placement according to the test specimen length. The machine is fully guarded with fixed plates at the base and manually operated, hinged guards at the top.
