Klaus Rothenhagen, Vice President of AIDA EUROPE, said that this system, which consists of a de-stacker and SERVO transfer press, is currently unique in the world of forming technology. The transfer press with a capacity of 3000 tons and a bolster size of 6,000 x 2,500 mm (236 x 98 in.) is the largest of its type in the world. The press is driven by (4) proprietary AIDA high-performance SERVO motors providing 30 spm in normal operation and 35 spm in ’Pendulum mode’. In pendulum mode, the slide does not perform the whole stroke, but only the portion necessary for the operation, thus allowing a higher output than a similarly configured mechanical press.
