MegaDam software collects and manages all information concerning a dam. In order to fully utilise the potential of the software the user needs to know some general concepts on how the package works and the results that can be achieved. To do this, the programme must be correctly configured on installation. This involves configuring the hardware, the UAD (data acquisition units) using RADAS (Remote Data Acquisition System) software files (extension *.rad) and configuring the System Setup files (extension *.stp). By “System” we mean the PC which controls the peripheral units via it’s serial ports. The *.stp files configure the modem which controls the data sent to the PC such as data download, real time channel reading etc. Using a single unique file, several peripherals can be controlled provided they are connected in series. To configure the UADs using *.rad files, each measuring unit must have a discrete file. The data can be collected automatically or manually. In the first case the system will schedule the download itself but with a manual download the timing is determined by the operator.
