3731 Clamp-On Ground Resistance Testers

3731 Clamp-On Ground Resistance Testers

Product catalog summary
Overview: The document provides detailed specifications and features of the Clamp-On Ground Resistance Tester Models 3711 and 3731. These devices are designed for measuring ground rod and grid resistance without the need for auxiliary ground rods, making them suitable for use in various environments, including around transmission towers and substations.
Key Features:
  • Measures ground resistance from 0.1Ω to 1200Ω with a resolution of 0.01Ω.
  • Fast settling time of approximately one second.
  • High immunity to electrical noise, suitable for use around transmission towers and substations.
  • Extended battery life, capable of over 1000 tests with an auto-off feature.
  • Rugged construction with smooth jaw surfaces for easy cleaning and maintenance.
  • Direct reading of ground resistance, continuity, and ground loop resistance.
  • Direct reading of ground leakage or phase current from 1mA to 30Arms.
  • Large jaw design accommodates cables up to 1000kcmil.
  • Alarm function with adjustable set points and buzzer for quick field checks (Model 3731).
  • Memory function to store 99 field measurements for later retrieval and analysis (Model 3731).
  • Meets EN 61010, Cat. III standards, CE Marked, and UL approved.
Applications:
  • Measurement of electrical ground rod and grid resistance.
  • Use on multi-grounded systems without disconnecting the ground rod under test.
  • Measurement of resistance and continuity of grounding loops around pads and buildings.
  • Measurement of leakage current flowing to ground or circulating in ground systems.
  • Field surveys and retrieval and analysis of readings at a later time.
  • Use on cell towers, telecommunication sites, pools, spas, and other consumer installations.
Construction: The devices are constructed with Lexan® or equivalent polycarbonate for durability. The probe heads are encapsulated in a double-walled shell for extra strength and reliability. The ergonomic design allows for one-handed operation, and the sealed push-buttons are operable even with gloved hands.
Specifications:
  • Ground resistance measurement range: 0.10 to 1200Ω with varying resolutions and accuracies.
  • Current measurement range: 1mA to 30.00Arms with auto-ranging capabilities.
  • Power source: 9V Alkaline battery with a typical life of 8 hours or approximately 1000 measurements.
  • Operating temperature: 14° to 131°F (-10° to 55°C).
  • Safety rating: EN 61010-2-032 (Class 2) Double Insulation, CE Marked.
