Namur Inductive Sensors 1-2-3 G/D
Inductive sensors are available in cylindrical and rectangular housings with various diameters (6.5mm, M8, M12, M14, M18, M30) and are designed for both embeddable (flush mounting) and non-embeddable (non-flush mounting) applications. They operate with a continuous voltage of 8.2V and have a switching frequency of up to 2000 Hz. The sensors are capable of detecting metal presence with a current absorption of 1 mA in the presence of metal and 3 mA in its absence. They are suitable for use in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +60°C and have an IP67 rating when used with a cable.
Working Principle
The sensors operate by changing input current when a metal actuator approaches. They are designed for hazardous areas with explosive atmospheres, consisting of air/gas or air/dust mixtures. The sensors must be connected to intrinsically safe circuits, as specified by EC Type examination certificates.
Standards and Approvals
The sensors conform to ATEX Directive 94/9/CE and IECEx standards, ensuring safety in explosive environments. They also comply with the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2004/108/CE and product standard EN60947-5-6. Approvals include EC Type Examination Certificate ATEX n° IMQ 13 ATEX 019 and IECEx Certificate of Conformity n° IECEx IMQ 13.0012X.
Applications
These sensors are suitable for detecting and counting small metal objects, such as screws and nuts, and for verifying the breakage of metal wires. They are particularly useful in environments where metal parts are in close proximity, requiring careful installation to avoid interference.
Installation Instructions
For correct installation, ensure appropriate distances between sensors and metallic objects to prevent interference. The sensors are supplied with a trimmer for sensitivity adjustment, which should be set considering the surrounding metal mass.
Connection to Intrinsically Safe Circuits
The sensors must be connected to circuits with specific safety parameters: Vo < 17V, Io < 17mA, Po < 73mW, Co > 250uF, and Lo > 175uH. These parameters ensure safe operation in hazardous environments.
