OVERVIEW The inverted pendulum system is a popular demonstration of using feedback control to stabilize an open-loop unstable system and widely used as a benchmark for testing control algorithms. The system can be used to teach students how to balance a vertical rod at the tip of a moving arm and be used as a tool to teach industrial compo nents such as linear motors, servo motor drivers, magnetic encoders and sliding rails. Thanks to the precise and agile motion characteristics, controllers requiring fast response times could be implemented. USER-FRIENDLY GUI AND OPEN-SOURCE SOFTWARE Available in NI LabVIEW™ and MATLAB®/Simulink® as an open source software allows students to implement their own controller designs. Predesigned plant simulation and controllers are ready for performance measurements and observing responses of the controller types between the simulation and real data. User-friendly GUI includes states of the system also a 2D image of the cart. Steady-state and phase error for standard test inputs are easily covered in the graphical chart
