INTRODUCTION 1.1. The M021P is a modulating temperature controller. Its function is to regulate the final flow temperature out of a heat exchanger by regulating the flow rate through the primary of the same heat exchanger. It does this by modulating the voltage applied to the pump which circulates water through the primary of the heat exchanger. The general principle is illustrated in the appendix. 1.2. Consequently, the M021P is not a "Safety Control" but is nonetheless designed and approved to the prevalent standard of EN 60730-1 which includes electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). 1.3. In...

2.1 The M021P is equipped with two blocks of screw terminals; one for high voltage (mains) interface and the other for low voltage isolated interface. 2.2 The following detail the connections which have to be made to the M021P. 2.3.1 Pins 1&2 are the contacts of an on-board change-over relay. The common pin is connected internally to permanent live and is not available externally. Thus pin 1 (normally closed) is live in the relay's normal state. When the external flow switch connection to the board is closed the relay gets powered and changes over to the energised state making pin 2 live...

There is also an optional pin header, TB3. Normally, temperature range is preset with an on-board preset potentiometer, RV2. When the OEM requires it, a 3 way pin header is inserted in place of RV2 thus allowing temperature range control via a remotely mounted potentiometer.

(No condensation) Power Consumption:- (Excluding all peripherals) Maximum 2 Temperature Range:-OEM Specifiable. Default 40 - 60 ±3 Earthing should be suitably provided on the appliance by the OEM. The control itself does not need an earth. The whole board is protected with a 20 mm fuse, FS2. The value is marked on as T2A and is factory fitted as T2A. The relay contacts and tracks are rated for a 3A current. Therefore, if the OEM requires it, it is recommended that the fuse rating may be changed to an appropriate value no greater than T3A.
