Global Resources For Global Customers

Product catalog summary
Overview: The document discusses ABB's advancements in robotics, specifically focusing on the Force Control technology for machining applications. This technology enhances the flexibility and efficiency of robotic finishing processes.
Function Package Force Control: This package is designed for customers who wish to integrate machining applications themselves. It includes a sensor, testing, verification, and cable integration on the robot. The package supports various IRB models and aims to simplify system setup, reducing time and resource costs.
Traditional vs. New Approach: Traditionally, robots are programmed with fixed paths and speeds, which can lead to quality issues if the path doesn't align with the part's surface. The new Force Control approach allows for dynamic adjustments, maintaining consistent contact pressure and improving quality.
Main Cell Data: The system specifications include a weight of 2000 kg, 400V/50Hz supply connections, a spindle power of 3.3kW, and a maximum of 50,000 rpm.
Flex Finishing Cell: This innovation includes an IRB 140F robot, a manual turntable, a base plate, spindle, tool buffer, GUI, and HMI. It offers a standardized solution adaptable to various tools and components.
Typical Materials and Processes: The system is suitable for materials like steel, aluminum, wood, and plastic. It supports processes such as grinding, polishing, and deflashing.
Benefits: The Flex Finishing technology offers ease of use, quality improvements, better working conditions, cost reductions, higher productivity, and improved process results by controlling process force rather than positions.

Global Resources For Global Customers-2

The traditional way in which a user programs a robot is to define the path and the speed. These will be constant, independent of the process forces. If the path does not coincide with the surface and dimensions of the part, you will instantly have quality problems and potential damage to the tooling. This is a known fact in the robotized finishing process. Users have spent a lot of time trying to correct these deficiencies and additional flexible toolings and servo axes were often needed. Three new functions add a new dimension to the use of robots in machining operations: FC Graphical Programming...
