GFM

Product catalog summary
Principles of Operation: The GFM mass flow meters operate by dividing metered gases into two laminar flow paths: a primary flow conduit and a capillary sensor tube. The temperature differential created by gas flow is measured using a Wheatstone bridge, providing output signals of 0 to 5Vdc and 4 to 20mA, indicating mass molecular-based flow rates. These rates are stable despite temperature and pressure variations within specified limits.
General Description: GFM mass flow meters are compact and self-contained, designed for gas flow rate measurement with high accuracy. They are available in aluminum or stainless steel, with options for engineering units or percentage displays. The design includes a tiltable LCD readout for ease of use, which can be removed for remote installations.
Design Features: Key features include rigid metallic construction, a maximum pressure of 1000 psig, leak integrity of 1 x 10-9 helium, NIST traceable certification, and built-in LCD readout. The meters offer circuit protection and can be used portably, with options for engineering units or percentage displays.
Specifications: The GFM meters have an accuracy of ±1.5% of full scale, with optional enhanced accuracy of ±1.0%. They are calibrated at standard conditions and have a repeatability of ±0.25% of full scale. The response time is generally 2 seconds, with a temperature coefficient of 0.15% of full scale per degree Celsius and a pressure coefficient of 0.01% per psi.
Flow Ranges and Models: The GFM series includes models for low to high flow rates, ranging from 10 mL/min to 1000 L/min. Each model has specific connection fittings and maximum pressure drop values, detailed in the provided tables.
Accessories: Available accessories include various power supplies, battery packs, cables, and mounting kits. Options for digital interfaces and remote readouts are also provided.
Ordering Information: When ordering, specify the flow range, gas type, and pressure. The ordering code includes details on material, display type, power, output signal, seals, and fittings.

MASS FLOW METERS Design Features Rigid metallic construction. Maximum pressure of 1000 psig (70 bars). Leak integrity 1 x 10-9 of helium. NIST traceable certification. Built-in tiltable LCD readout. 0-5 Vdc and 4-20 mA signals. Circuit protection. Can be used as a portable device. Engineering units or 0 to 100% displays. TIO Totalizer option. Metered gases are divided into two laminar flow paths, one through the primary flow conduit, and the other through a capillary sensor tube. Both flow conduits are designed to ensure laminar flows and therefore the ratio of their flow rates is constant. Typical Aluminum GFM Mass Flow Meter A Wheatstone bridge design is used to monitor the temperature dependent resistance gradient on the sensor windings which is linearly proportional to the instantaneous rate of flow. Two precision temperature sensing windings on the sensor tube are heated, and when flow takes place, gas carries heat from the upstream to the downstream windings. The resultant temperature differential is proportional to the change in resistance of the sensor windings. Output signals of 0 to 5Vdc and 4 to 20mA are generated indicating mass molecular based flow rates of the metered gas. Flow rates are unaffected by temperature and pressure variations within stated limitations. General Description Compact, self-contained GFM mass flow meters are designed to read flow rates of gases. The rugged design coupled with instrumentation grade accuracy provides versatile and economical means of flow measurement. Aluminum or stainless steel models with readout options of either engineering units (standard) or 0 to 100 percent displays are available. NIST Traceable Calibration The mechanical layout of the design includes an LCD readout built into the top of the transducer. This readout module is tiltable over 90 degrees to provide optimal reading comfort. It is connected to the transducer by a standard modular plug, and is also readily removable for remote reading installations. www.aalborg.com - e-mail ౧ [email protected] - ( 845.770.3000 - fax 845.770.3010 - Toll Free in U.S.A. and Canada 1.800.866.3837 10
