Blowdown Mute

Product catalog summary
Overview
The AAF Blowdown Mute is designed for efficient noise reduction in high-pressure, high-velocity gas, air, and steam vents. It features an innovative design that maximizes the exposed perforated tube surface area, backed by high absorption coefficient packing material, to provide more insertion loss per foot of silencer.

Design and Construction
The Blowdown Mute is constructed with rugged materials for long-lasting service and guaranteed performance, supported by in-service testing. It is compact, reducing the need for costly support structures. The design includes a multi-silencer configuration with a plate shell, high-temperature floating tube module, and acoustically lined frequency transformer.

Size and Capacity
The Blowdown Mute is available in various sizes, with shell diameters ranging from 12 inches to 144 inches and capacities from 4,760 ACFM to 1,535,800 ACFM. Two styles are available: Style A-101 for nozzle-supported bottom inlet applications and Style A-111 for self-standing side inlet applications.

Quality Assurance
The production process is governed by an ISO 9001 certified system, ensuring world-class quality.

Options and Customization
Options include non-standard silencer lengths, flanged inlet nozzles, special material construction, high-temperature fiber acoustical packing, various external finishes, ASME Code standards compliance, integral liquid separators, weather hoods, additional modular tube bundles, acoustic liners, support lugs, and saddle supports.

Selection Criteria
To select the appropriate Blowdown Mute, consider the characteristics of the gas handled, actual flow rate, insertion loss requirements, piping configuration, available space, and preferred silencer orientation.

Blowdown Mute-1

DESIGNED FOR EFFICIENT PERFORMANCE The innovative design of the AAF Blowdown Mute provides: n More insertion loss per foot of silencer due to maximizing the exposed perforated tube surface area, backed by high absorption coefficient packing material. n Maximum use of the absorptive characteristic of the tube module by conversion of the entering noise into higher frequencies. n Rugged construction, resulting in years of long lasting service. n Guaranteed performance based upon confidence of design, backed by in-service testing, resulting in published insertion loss data for every model and size. n More compact design, reducing the need for costly support structures. Blowdown Mutes EFFECTIVE SILENCING OF ALL GAS, AIR, AND STEAM VENTS AAF's Blowdown Mute is the answer to the problem of reducing excessive noise generated by high pressure, high velocity gas vents, and blowoffs. The AAF Blowdown Mute is an assembly of time-proven, servicetested components, each specifically designed to perform its task and provide optimum overall silencer performance. Use the A-111 when a self-standing side inlet is required. Both styles are available in various lengths, which correspond to dash numbers on the charts. The longest standard size is the –6 which provides the most noise reduction. The shortest standard size is the –2 which provides the least insertion loss when less noise reduction is needed. WORLD CLASS QUALITY During the entire production process, our operations are governed by our ISO 9001 certified system.
