PRODUCT DATASHEET MANGANESE STEEL Manganese SteelHigh Abrasion Resistant Wear Strips for Conveyor Drag ChainsAPPLICATION Specifically designed for the use with drop forged, heat-treated chain links, 4B Manganese Steel provides a low friction, highly wear-resistant ‘running surface’ for conveyor drag chains. It extends the life of chain conveyor casing bottom plates (and other areas, depending on machine design, handled material and application), protecting against costly wear and premature casing panel replacement. • Help to guide the chain • Reduce friction and noise inside the conveyor • Improve the life of the chain and conveyor METHOD OF INSTALLATION Manganese wear strips are typically installed using a combination of welded studs to the strip underside (allowing easier removal during replacement), along with additional tack welding to secure the strip after bolting and reduce risk of ‘peel’ in the event of stud or bolt failure. The precise installation method will depend the machine design, application, duty and material being handled.
