For fixed power applications, we offer the Oriel Simplicity Series Arc Sources. We removed some of the features and versatility from our Fully Featured Research Systems (see page 92 for Oriel Research Systems) without compromising performance, reliability, and safety, in order to offer Researchers a more economical option. These systems come complete with all the necessary components to begin work. They include: • Lamp Housing with an F/0.7 or F/1.0 condenser and a built-in ignitor (see page 111) • Power supply pre-set to specified lamp – no need to set the voltage, current, or power (see page 116) • Arc lamp and socket adapter (see page 101) • All necessary cables and mounting hardware We offer sources to operate Hg, Xe and Hg(Xe) arc lamps from 50 to 1600 W. Most of the Xe and Hg(Xe) lamps are ozone free models; they do not have output below ~260 nm. If you need output below 260 nm, contact a Sales Engineer to substitute the lamp for an ozone producing model and the silicaborosilicate Aspherab® for a fused silica one. Safety Considerations These sources emit dangerous levels of UV radiation and ozone. To protect yourself from the dangerous UV, always wear protective eyewear and gloves; see page 246 for ultraviolet safety accessories. • Economical sources for fixed power applications • Dedicated 50 to 1600 W Xe, Hg and Hg(Xe) systems • Produce large, collimated, output beams • Power supply field upgradeable for even more versatility Upgrading for More Versatility By replacing the power supplies, you can achieve more versatility, for example, multiple lamp operation and compatibility with Oriel Light Intensity Controller (see page 226), just to name a few.
