Application note Ascon Spa Climatic test chambers. The application Several types of tests are performed using climatic chambers in industries such as semiconductors, pharmaceutical and aeronautical. They include: laboratory tests, thermal shocks, rainwater spray/ dust/ altitude/ natural weather simulations, stability/ longevity/ ageing/ burn-in tests. Typically, heating and refrigeration need to be accurately controlled to obtain the desired combinations of ramps, profiles and sequences of broad ranges of temperature, humidity and pressure / vacuum. Also required are safety devices for temperature, excess pressure, overload, and low water level protections. The Ascon solution State-of-the-art solutions using Ascon equipment have been realized for several climatic test chambers. Typically, the PAC (Programmable Automation Controller) of the sigmadue series has demonstrated to be the most suitable device to control all the most important functions including the management of: - Analogue inputs for the measurements of the variables such as temperature and humidity - Digital inputs for the detection of the process status and safety devices - Outputs including control signals, interlocks commands and alarms. The I/Os are then processed by the CPU, which includes PID and autotune algorithms, profiles generation, sequences and logics. RTD temperature sensors and “Humi-Chip” humidity transmitters of the ZTR and H series respectively, complete the system together with the operator panels of the OP series.
